Is Mainlining worth it?

The trick is to develop a large manifold at small stage so when it get full grown it will be like a small tree… when harvesting, harvest all bud except for about a couple grams on each top then drop some worm castings and kick back lights to 18/6 and it will rejuvenate and in a much shorter time produce another large harvest in half the time. Just do everything as if you were in veg. See when you mainline all the hard work is in the beginning when your developing the manifold. I look at it like a car engine…. 8 cylinders ( 8 tops) down to one exhaust (1 main stawk). But once you have created a the manifold and it’s 8 arms are spaced to create a circle that allows the light to hit the entire plant evenly. You want to turn pots everyday 1/2 turn. And all the work is done let them take off to the desired height and bump to flower and reap the rewards

Mainlining looks painfully slow unless done by someone who knows what there doing. I don’t understand why people defoliate their mainlines so heavily that’s why they grow slow.
It’s very slow but when you get to desires spacing …. Look out because you no longer will be stunting the growth so it will take off

I defoliant a lot to concentrate the growth to the new growth and not the big fan leaves.. I leave usually take the inner leaves to allow light. Never ever cut all leaves off top unless the two leaves at the top are developing inner nodes. If they have not developed you will kill the top.

If you are delicate and Have the ability to be patient and ride it out you will never ever do a grow any other way and you will have a mammoth yield

Gonna have to agree here. If you are mainlining, I suggest taking the suckers out while leaving the larger fan leaves on, at least for a couple weeks or so. They are your solar panels and nutrient vacuums. Less light & less nutrient absorption equates to a slow grow. I'm at one month with a cross of lst and mainline that seems to be working great.

Try giving that a shot on your next mainline and see if you notice a speed of growth difference. I bet ya will.

That being said, how long are you all vegging? I'm planning on a 2-3 month veg but as I read through this thread I realized that some people had a quick turn around utilizing a shorter veg window. Is it really possible to get a decent yield off with such a short veg period? (1 month veg)

No longer and more developed the plant is the more it will yield, I veg for about 4 months but your getting 2 harvests off the same plant only the second harvest will already have a super highway for nutrients and produce an even larger harvest that the first. In a much shorter window

2-3 month veg? Holy fuck. I veg for 3 weeks and even that's too long.

To keep your plants growing as fast as possible when mainlining, don't defoliate at all until you flip to 12/12, then you can do it however you like. I try to leave any leaves that get any direct light at all, and just clear out enough under the canopy so that a fan can push air all the way through the plants. Doing so has a huge impact on humidity under the canopy-stagnant areas can reach 90% even if you maintain your room at 50% or less RH. I don't remove the "suckers" until stretch is nearly done, because you don't always know which one will become a nice canopy level bud site until then AND they don't slow down vegetative growth at all. It isn't the technique you want if you care strictly about production-you'd get more over a year's time with shorter veg times, less extreme topping, more plants, and using that saved veg time for another cycle, BUT for the average home grower that just cares about making quality meds, it's a fun and useful method. If you stick to 8 colas, they grow HUGE and make for great pictures too, just beware of bud rot in big colas. I would take 25 smaller tops than 8 huge ones any day.

Tried it a few times, made a cool looking plant. That was about the only advantage. The results just weren't worth the time. Big colas look cool for pictures, but are more prone to problems. Getting an even canopy using lst has given me my best results, in the fastest time :blsmoke:

These are my plants. Seedling stage included, they are at 1 month of age. Ignore the O.F. soil as it is only part of a mix for flowering, not for these ladies...yet. I did go through a C deficiency due to lockout about a week ago because of user error but have since recouped on PH'd water. Tallest one is about 9" tall with a 3/8" thick stem. Still tiny and growing.

Don't ask why but after writing that the Flinstones Vitamin theme popped in my head, "A million moooore and grow-ing."

Okay. I gotta put the spoon down. :blsmoke:

I find the 4 way lst to be the fastest method, your using two node sets that already exist instead of waiting for new nodes to be produced to top, I don’t clean the leaves off either. Saves about 7-10 days of veg, I supercrop the taller tops and it works quick, veg is only about 45 days and a full canopy
