Hoping this is quick n' easy but likely to have MANY different answers. Most starting with, "It depends"

So let me give you a run down.

1 month old (Includes seedling stage), i-hybrid & indica, soil grow, Happy Frog soil, 1 gal pot, 18hr light cycle, 2-MF1000 Maxsisun, avg temp/RH of 74F/50RH, no cover crop, lst, topped once.

A picture for you if it helps:

It depends on how you feed too. If you have a living soil grow, you don't need to be watering to runoff. If you are feeding nutrients, then you can water to plenty of runoff in any media. Overwatering comes from watering too often, not too much at one time. If you aren't adding any nutrients yet, you don't need much runoff, but how you water also matters. If you just dump all your water in really fast, it will shoot through channels in your media and won't thoroughly soak it-try taking some time, watering a bit, let it sit for a few minutes, water a bit more, etc. Try comparing a pot that you just thoroughly watered to a pot full of the same media but that's completely dry. In soil, you want a wet/dry cycle, so comparing a wet pot to a dry pot is a good way to figure out when it's time to water for new growers.

I just finished my morning that way with the slow soak. 2 of the Indicas were given just less than a qtr gallon(25floz) over 30 minutes with a runoff of about 3floz. 10%+ish. From what I'm reading I seem to be at a low to satisfactory watering.

How did this turn into feeding salts??
Organic soil you water just a little water.
Why did runoff come in?

Last watering was about 15oz of fluid. Lasted all of 2 days & required watering on the 3rd day. Is it too much to water and wait for 4-5 days before watering again with living soil? The top soil is always dry by the next watering and this is all still pretty new to me.

I water from the bottom also. The plant will suck up what it needs. When finished pull out extra with turkey baster.

Water it until theirs some run off. Don’t over think it.

if you’re referring to how much water to give in relation to pit size?

ball park 1:3 1gal water to 3gal of soil.

obviously all soil is not the same. I have FFOF in 3 gal pots and that’s about what it takes to gets some decent run off.

Last grow (with Black Gold Organic) in 5g bags I couldn't pour more than a gallon without getting runoff. I'm now using Pro-Mix HP+ in 5g bags...and it's 1.5g before I get anything out the bottom. I aim for the higher side of 20% runoff. Also, the Pro-Mix takes way longer to get the water through the soil...which tells me it's soaking better.
