No one gives a shit about mainlining. Grow a healthy plant to harvest and then give it a shot if you want to try something different.
In this case, you’re right. I don’t think 8 weeks is enough time to build that grand piano. Ha!

That said, I’m trying mainlining for the first time and so far I’m happy with the results. My last run was just a normal grow fimmed and Lollipopped. One of my plants produced 43 colas. My other plants were between 20-26 colas. A major pain in the ass to trim 5 plants.

This grow I’ve tried main lining and they’re larger, more dense, and frostier colas. I still need to chop and dry to compare the weight to my last grow. Even if it’s not as much the last grow, the quality seems better and - for the love of god - there’s less to trim.

I don’t think it’s the gospel of growing, but so far I can’t see that there’s anything wrong with it. (Pics are from Week 7).

Week 7? Why don't you wait until it finishes?

That and knowing what the fuck your doing helps :)
I'm just speaking for myself & don't mean to dis anyone's style because we all have favorites, kinda like religion.
Anyway, 1st things 1st, which is don't do what every rookie grower out there has done in their life, which is cut leaves off the plant, usually thinking that the bud will get more light, which is true.
But does the bud need that much more, or are you eliminating/reducing the plant's ability to absorb more lumens to produce the energy NEEDED for the bud to DEVELOP!!!!
Just move the leaves & pull the branch into the light, end of story.
Also fan's hold a lot of moisture & will help the plant maintain in case you can't/forget to water.
One of the most beneficial/important aspects of the leaves is that tell you what's up with the plant.
How will you tell if your N is too high/low if you don't have any fucking leaves? :)
You will have a hard time figuring out def's without them, they tell you EVERYTHING!!!! :)
So, I don't take ANY leaves unless they're dead or diseased.
Sure, the de-foliated plant is prettier, no doubt, but is it healthier?
Nope, that's impossible.
This ain't Bonsai, you want the biggest/healthiest plant, not the prettiest (at least I do)
You will produce skinny-ass girls if you lollypop/de-foliate, whereas my ladies have big/fat asses & I LOVE FAT ASSES!!!!! (juicier)
:)
Haha! You’re not wrong there duder! Do I think that positive thinking is going to make his plants grow faster? No. That said, he’s only got 8 weeks, he’s got plants, so might as well rock it til the wheels fall off and see if he can get anything. Mainlining is definitely a lofty goal, but I’m curious to see how it goes.

I do appreciate the rebellious fighting spirit, but after reading through his posts there’s definitely a bit of arrogance being a first time grower. I remember thinking I had it all figured out… then the soil gnats decimated my crop. I didn’t know what I didn’t know and I failed, but I learned. Hahaha!

I suppose trying our own grows and failing is the ultimate way to be humbled and learn at the same time.

As far as chopping leaves, I don’t think lollipopping and selective defoliation is bad. My buds seem to be doing alright and are pretty large. I didn’t go overboard and left most of the leaves on my colas. (Yes, I know my leaves got some nute burn early that’s showing. That’s part of that learning from failure thing ha!).

Fuck yea, I lost/had shit grows probably my 1st 3 times attempting/trying all sorts of Black Magic on my bud :)
Then I said fuck it, all those additives are basically bull shit & cost a fortune & just makes the CEO of Advanced Nutrients a very rich man, especially today with all the people/suckers ( :) ) that because of legalization are growing.
Shit, my lawyer is even growing now :)
Anyway, I keep it very simple now, the only additive that I use is Tecniflora Awesome Blossoms for bud development which has a high P which is very good during the last 4 weeks.
Otherwise I use just a Veg/Boost/Bloom made by Techniflora, BC is the product.
I do use Kelp during veg, otherwise that's it.
Don't rely on charts for amounts of nutes to use, not accurate enough, get a good PH/PPM/EC meter, very important!!!!.
I pH my water & level my nutes each watering, I don't agree that pH isn't important, I say bull shit.
It's EXTREMELY important for the plant to absorb minerals/nutes effectively, so it needs to be regulated.
Some say if your organic its not necessary, but that method needs a living soil, which is next to impossible to develop in 90 days.
I go 6.0 pH which is foolproof & around 1200 ppm is safe. I go for 1400 ppm in bloom/700 for veg up until 6 weeks then I up it which is also foolproof
Simplicity is the way to go/ don't overcomplicate
Remember that :)

Grow organic and don’t panic ! I use “Only add water method”. No PH/PPM/EC meter, No PH meter, no 101 different nutes. Only once a week I give a special treat.
