Ahahahah this makes me feel so much better! Unfortunately all these paranoia of mine are induced by all those threads I go to read both here and all the other forums....
Only people I ever see worrying about this kind of stuff is new growers. You’ll get over the paranoia eventually.

I certainly don't have as much experience as you guys but I have been growing them for many years now and I treat them as if they were my daughters and since I invest money in them every month, money that I practically take out of my mouth, I tend to be paranoid because that is pretty much all I will be able to smoke for the next few months. Where I live there are no dispensaries or coffee shops just black weed and hash that looks like brick. Unfortunately this year I am having a lot of problems with my girls because of the new house, the cold and humidity.
I've always left my girls in total darkness but not long ago someone on RIU said that simply the lights from the surveillance camera could do damage to plant growth and after I installed the fan I thought about what that guy had said. I checked online and found that most of the posts were about someone taking pictures of the plants at night and many people started stoning him talking about reveg and hermaphroditism. Just this.

I’m assuming you’re in flower? Is it not possible to wait and check on them when the lights are on?
Yes I am in week 7 almost 8. You're right but in the morning I'd like to take a peek even if it's just to stay calm all day and I still have to go in and turn on the room light even if only to change the water inside the dehumidifier.

Your new right? Sometimes you just take the initiative and do it. The proof is pudding most times. If a particular something didn’t work well now you know and the uncertainty is diminished. That’s how the real growth as a grower happens.

I've been practically growing in secret for many years and it's only been 3 years since I started taking it a little more seriously simply because I had the money and the ability to live on my own (my dad is a cop and he's caught me like 4 times). For years I've just been reading and I felt stupid asking questions that many of you think are stupid or obvious to answer, but I'm getting over it and every doubt I have I'm exposing it while trying to improve the current cycle. Many people take me for stupid or inexperienced but I can tell you that all these little stupid questions I won't be asking next cycle. I worked for 2 years for a grow shop website here in Italy and you can't even imagine the crap I heard every day... crap that was taken as if God was talking.

I see . Hope I didn’t offend thought you mentioned being new. That’s what happens when I’m reading three threads at a time lol. I’m fairly novice in comparison too. I found similar when I started w 50% saying one way or the other. It was easier sometimes to just do it and have my answer. Good luck

I was ashamed for a long time to ask certain things and sometimes reading online leads you to learn wrong things or anyway you never know who is right and who is wrong because most of the time we talk about bro science and things without scientific basis. And rightly so... unfortunately I suffer clinically from paranoia due to a condition that I've had for years and you have no idea what it means to me to leave the lights on when I leave the house (short circuits, fires) or to not know for more than a few hours what my girls are doing. Unfortunately this leads me to be long-winded and insistent and I'm sorry guys.

I think "light leaks" are blown out of proportion IMO.

Yall should see my dad's setup. Mom/clone side glowing 24hrs, flower side on 12/12 and they're separated by a couple shower curtains. Every time I stop by, he throws the whole thing open and we gawk and discuss. He's never had a herm or issue due to light leakage.

Bugbee did a recent study in these security camera lightwave/spectrum present during the night, and he found that it would delay (not disrupt) the onset of flowering (by quite some days)
However he used much greater IR luminosity than what should usually be present.
That said, a blue shining diode may have a stronger effect

No need for apologies. That must be tough to deal with. Best of luck, lots of help here
Thank you very much brother, have a good evening ( here it's evening I don't know about you) anyway I deleted the part of the message where I told you that I would never be offended by something like that. There is always learning and I want to understand things and not learn them by heart. Again, have a good evening brother

Maybe it was just the thread I read a while back that I was talking about earlier. Anyway I was listening to a podcast this morning where a professor from Cornell University was speaking and he was talking more about the quantity vs quality of light etc... at one point they asked him about the very speech that many people have had this dilemma and many started talking about these green spectrum lights that they said would not be perceptible by the plant and he took apart one by one all of these theories based on research done by them themselves. Basically he says that for the most part the problem is derived from the intensity of the light you are using to control/work inside at night but they didn't mention infrared lights! It's always good to know that because it means that when I install a camera like this I won't have all this paranoia and I'll already know the answer

I feel much more comfortable with you telling me this! :eyesmoke:

It's still wise to exhibit caution. My opinion personally, it's sunlight you reeeally gotta watch out for; if you're not minding your blinds or curtains, a stream of light could be hitting your tent's zipper seam and bam, now you got reveg in the front of your tent.
