seed sprouted with shell still on

How long has it been on there? In my experience they come off when they are ready. I have only had help one come off once.

what should i do about it it aint got its first leaves yet
Keep it moist by spraying --- it'll take longer to drop off if it dries out.

Poking at it isn't a good idea.

I push seeds about an inch into the medium to make sure the husk remains there, not attached to the cotyledons...

i potted the seed like 4 days ago and it came outta the ground today with shell on ill try the watering method for a few days see how i get on

cheers for the advise guys havent ran into the issue yet and youtube was telling me was tweeser and i didnt wanna mess with the plant like that

I tweezer them, but I have exp doing it. Ive also fucked up before and ruined seeds. If it's not solid in the medium and it lifts the root don't bother. Do like 2835 said and eye dropper some water on it and put a bit of peroxide in it (helps break down and soften the shell)

If you press the tweezers closed, then slowly open them with the tips prying the shell, the shell should open further.

I spray mine for a few days before resulting to the tweezers.

It's your call really. When this happens to me it's cause I either don't have the humidity right or I didn't plant my seed deep enough. I always use a little water or saliva and just gently work off the shell/membrane with some tweezers

Though helping them is very tempting, leaving them to sort themselves out is the safest option...and nature does it so very well...
