I havent bought a cob in a while, but its because the first 16 I purchased are still working like the day I bought them nearly 5 yrs ago lol.
Trueon the HS weight though. It definitely gets heavy on larger builds in comparison to strip.

Quick question... how secure are the chip-loks meant to be ? I just bought a 4pack of the citizen 1212s & the chip-loks. I'm either dense or disappointed. I followed the vid, simple enough, it snaps into place within the four corners. Vid goes on to show the dude giving another extra squish and flopping it around showing how extra secure it is. OK, i give it an extra squish, but as far as i can tell one it snaps into the corner bits it's done. Then if i look at it wrong, lil 1212 pops out, sometimes flung a bit by the spring. Oof.
 
On one hand i'm probably annoyed by this more than i should be, on the other hand it sure as shit isn't "Lok"-ing anything if it pops out before i can get a screw in place. Usually it just pushes up over the bit i'm pointing at in the pic. Didn't want to go with BJBs as i don't want the "mini reflector" "feature" described on the site. But i also don't want to fumble a COB, lol. Sigh.

hold the holder with both hands, spring arm away from you with your thumbs on top, chip up against spring arm almost in place (the edge closest to you will indeed be over the 'ramp' and the bump above it in your pic. click it into place by pushing down on the back of the chip and away from you, it should click into place. when i do that, i can wave it all around without the chip falling out
 
I bought a 6 cob light from Timber about 7 years ago and it quit working today.. 6 Cree 3590s wired in series on a Hlg 320 H-C 1400B.. I tested the driver and it seems to be ok.. Upon further inspection I found that the thermal pads on the cobs was nonexistent.. The cobs all look good but I’m stuck on what else to do.. Are there any tests I can do to figure this out? Any way to test the cobs?

With that driver your cobs are connected in series: one failed cob/connection and no light. If you can bypass the cobs one at a time or measure circuit continuity with a multimeter you can identify the failed part/cob. Replace and should be good to go again.

Thanks Rocket Soul.. I did a continuity test one cob at a time didn't find a bad cob so I hooked the driver up and I'm back in business.. Must have been a bad connection that I fixed messing with the wires..

Dan here from Highgrove Lighting, formerly Timber Grow Lights. Please send me an email at sales@timbergrowlights.com and I would be happy to assist you. We used Arctic Silver thermal paste instead of thermal pads as it is a stronger thermal interface.

Each of our lights come with fused power inlets - I'd check the fuses in the power inlet connecting the driver to the power cord to make sure that you don't have a failed fuse. There are two fuses - one live and one spare, try swapping them first to see if that solves the issue.
