Wk 9 - OG Kush fan leaf tips curling up and dried

Hey guys, I could use your help. OG kush wk9 of flower in FFOF w/ 20% perlite. Feeding maxibloom - 2 tablespoons in 3 gallons mixed of water mixed up and divided into 3 girls, so each plant receives 1 gallon weekly. Between nuts I feed recharge and water when dry. My temps are a little low, ranging 60°F at night and 65°F. RH avg. 57%.

The tips of fan leaves are curling up and also dried out. There’s another OG next to her same age and she’s not showing the same symptoms. Given where they’re at in flowering idk how to respond. They’re due for watering, I haven’t ph’d water to check ph other then that any suggestions or similar experiences.

Would that cause the leaves to take on this appearance? I let my plants go super dry b4 watering, and my leaves look this way on some of my plants too. Figured it was a toxicity/lockout issue.

It is the best way to lose leaves a few weeks later

Yes, very possible. If you let soil dry to the point where leaves are wilting, you will often see some leaf damage afterwards.

Also, if you feed salt based nutrients, letting your medium dry out too much causes salts to fall out of solution and crystallize and your EC spikes.

I was watering a little sooner than when bone dry, and i ended up with fungus gnats. So i had to get even more strict. Or maybe a few fungus gnats are acceptable?

I do my best to not let them dry out 100%. When they were in veg they went bone dry maybe twice - to the point leaves drooped. I don’t believe I’ve let them go 100% dry since. If I question whether they need water, I’ll just do 32 ounces around the perimeter.

I last feed them Sunday. They got a light watering on Wednesday because of moisture in the bottom and they weren’t fully dry. Also noticing these issues I’ve been cautious. I’m going to give them another watering now and idk if I should try anything at this point.

i dont see any issue here. its week 9, this plant is gonna die very soon, and we're worried about fan leaves? these are the first to go, which is what is happening now. the rest of them look great, probably can afford to go water only now, plenty of food in that soil it looks like

If you haven't checked your PH you probably should MaxiBloom is extremely acidic. When I tried that sh*t my solution was like 4.0 PH.. If you're in Fox Farms SOIL you should have a input solution PH of 6.0-6.2 for optimum results. Please update us and let us know if the maxibloom weed ends up tasting like a 9 volt battery on your tongue when you smoke it.

I agree, I'm guessing at some point it got quite dry which damaged the tips and was compounded by the spike in EC that happens when media dries out. The plants look otherwise quite healthy, so this probably was an isolated occurrence and not a chronic problem, otherwise we'd see more damage.

This is the healthiest ocean forest grow that I have seen, good job. Maxi bloom huh? I can never get that shit mixed but you got good results.

I think you guys are right in regards to medium drying out.

I’m harvesting these girls tonight and the fan leaves didn’t worsen to bad.

I’ve also germinated my next round, anyone have a good nutrient recommendation? I’d prefer to use some easy two part mix but ultimate goal is quality.

When you wilt your plants you're harming leaves, but worse you're harming the root system. Sometimes the leaves perk back up and look fine, but the roots are still usually damaged to some extent. On top of that the EC spikes, so your plants are drinking a very hot solution through a reduced root system. This will cause them to drink slower and the medium to stay wet longer, potentially causing root rot and attracting pests.
