Purple buds

Don't listen to the trolls. Cold temps will bring out the purple in most strains. Some people just can't accept it,.
Oh I know, I've researched this multiple times in multiple places.

I'm growing Purple Haze, so I needed to know if it was true or not.

You'll end up having more purple,vs less purple with the lower temps at the end.

But then lowering temps for flowering is good. ☮

All my plants had purple colors when I was using colder temps, and had my dark cycle at night vs the day. I was also using cold water which I think probably helped make them more purple too. I didn't even think about the cold water at first.

The main thing that's happening is the cold makes P harder for the plant to access, therefore it's kinda like mild P deficiency.

It makes them prettier, but it's not gonna make the weed stronger or anything.

I believe dropping temps in late flower is to aid in lower RH. Cooler air doesn't hold as much moisture as warm air. Me personally, I don't drop temps to encourage any secondary pigments. I drop night temps 10-20 degrees depending on what stage of flower I'm in, for the lower RH. Once the lights come back on that RH sky rockets.

If it colors up then, cool I guess. But color has no relevance to me aside from bag appeal. And my shit is always dank no matter what degree of color I may achieve.

Not sure the hype on purp strains are anything more than aesthetically pleasing flowers. Most run as mids.
Medically they are great for relaxation , stress , pain and paranoia. MyCyrene seems to be the dominate profile with tropical , fruit , berry notes.

Tried a few - Dark Devil / Grape Ape / GDP hybrid ‘ Ultraviolet and some others .
Results were rather meh. However , there are some strains that produce good weed.
‘Purple afghani / purple punch / mendo purp etc.

Maybe run some with “ Kush “ lines .

As far as lower temps - also be aware that lower temps can interfere with nutrient uptake also , purp stems / lower pk uptake etc.

Lowering temps actually increases the RH. Humidity is relative to temp.

Any pictures of your purple plants in colder temperatures? I always love seeing beautiful plants.

How come it's so dry in the winter, even with all that snow on the ground. I guess i just assumed low temp low rh
I don't know how to explain it really well, but I'll try. You're right that cold air holds less moisture, and warmer air holds more. But if the RH is 50 at 80 degrees, and you lower the temp the lower temp air can't hold the same amount of water, so instead of being locked into the air molecules themselves it's released out in the open air.

Like I said though, I don't know how to explain it very well. So take that with a grain of salt.

No I don't.. but other people do have some things figured out and they have come before me and I pay attention to that knowledge.

Nobody has anything "all" figured out.
Life is a constant learning process and that includes you.
If you want to grow a purple plant use a purple strain. Low temperatures can cause a plant to purple but it's not normal if it wouldn't otherwise.

A purple strain will purple at 80F as much as it would under lower temperatures.

Purple at normal temperatures.

More Purple Punch grown under normal temperatures.
