In all fairness I did not see that thread on the top page.
Also in fairness this is a watch-party.
Feel free to join my watch party for day 2 or all of the threads.
I promise you I did not intend to irritate or jump anyone's claim.
It is all good. I will update it with the videos and whatnot, I don't mind this thread is solid.

Good looking out though @schuylaar

So hey Graham asks if it's her opinion to support incarcerating someone forever without charging them nor convicting them of a crime.

I can't remember what that is called but at Gitmo that is what they have done.

I do not agree that anyone should be locked up without charges nor conviction for a crime.

I am against Gitmo as a workaround for American Rule of Law.

Thanks. Less scared.
lol the more scary thing is when you start to think about how easy it is to spam that neighbor into triggering at words you use frequently, or pushing you and them to extreme positions on the same stories that one of you do care about.

But those things were always there, it is just now easier to tease them out and nudge them into conversations with data analysis and computer generated trolling spam.

Graham is an evil man.

I'm guessing he freaks out if he gets a traffic ticket.

Good Man Sen Durbin! He took on the sneaky snake Graham on his rouge issues.

I think Lindsey is drinking again.

An equitable justice system isn’t possible without the availability of public defenders who make a vigorous argument for their client, no matter who that client is. It’s ridiculous to attack Judge Brown Jackson for her career as a public defender.

Go get another drink Lindsey. Fucking clown.

Yeah. In retrospect, I was starting to emote, and that is when you feel the hook& line.

She brings up Brett Michael Kavanaugh who said Roe V Wade was settled law and then turned around and once on the court said Roe V Wade can be overturned.

Beer-Boy lied to get on the court.

Hey. In his belief that an equitable system runs on copious alcohol, he is in the presence of former greats like Grant and Churchill.

I don’t know about the others but from what I’ve read, the reports of Grant’s drinking problem are a myth. He had a low tolerance to alcohol so it didn’t take him much to get tipsy. This is why he would never drink during battle or while in command.

I haven’t read much about his presidency so I can’t speak to that time.

Nixon seems to have abused substance if I remember right.

Drunk in charge

For most of his political life Richard Nixon was prey to drink, prescription drugs and fits of rage

I read about Grant’s considerable drinking in a more scholarly volume. I don’t remember where so am woolgathering rather than arguing.

From my pokings-around I’m finding that this issue is a current controversy among the engaged historians. So (shrug)

There was a report of him being drunk during the battle of Shiloh that I believe has been universally debunked by historians. As frequently happens, this one lie led to a reputation that was most certainly exaggerated.

I have no doubt that his drinking in the 50s and post-65 were real. But I imagine that while he was fighting, he stuck to the job, during which time he avoided blunting his edge like that.
But not having studied for a history degree, I’m blue-skying.
