Hi all just wondering if I have a carbon filter in the tent how much odour will it trap not a massive grow it will be 6 plants in total and could I take the ducting into my bathroom and out of the existing extractor already in there so it vented straight outside pics shown below reason in asking is need to be discreet as possible as im I'm in an upstairs flat and don't really know the guys downstairs as not long been in the property or straight up into the loft not sure if the lofts are connected yet need to check just incase the smell could drift inbetween the top of the brick work and next doors tiles ending up in there loft 20220401_183300.jpg

I held a deck party for my wife's co-workers last summer and the vent for my grow setup was about 5' away from where we had the food tables setup. My grow was in full flower at that time. But you need to have a good filter and have your ventilation set up right so that it scrubs effectively. Also, filters don't last forever, so you'll probably need to replace yearly.

Thanks for the information bud I haven't ordered yet so will be looking at a good filter and fan kit so it's matched up correctly and it will be changed regularly if all works out fine

Plan not only based upon tent/room size, but also calculate in the airflow reduction caused by the filter and/or any turns in ductwork and it's length. If I remember correctly there was a decent explainer on the AC-Infinity website about it. I can say that I can tell a difference in how effective a filter is after about 6 months.

If your going long on ducting and restricting outlet size like you are with that vent then make sure you get a good workhorse of a fan that can handle the resistance and go bigger on your filter because it will last longer and function better.

IMO the only time a carbon filter doesn't clean enough is when folks try and recirculating the air instead of sending it outside. Assuming a quality filter to start with.

Buy quality fans and filter

Whether it goes through that hole or I have to core a hole myself it will be going outside or up into the loft but don't think that's going to be going ahead the air won't be getting recirculated it needs to be directed out of the house altogether I was simply asking if I could use the pre existing cored hole to the outside of the property as it needs to be discreet and coring holes clearly isn't the ducting won't be long that's on one side of the wall about a foot from the wall I was going to core through to get to it so would of been around 24 inch maybe 30 max duct outside the tent the tent will be on the other side in the bedroom and duct will be direct into the top vent which will be near the wall if you get what I mean I'm just trying to get a good idea of what I'm going to need before it all goes in place

Also I believe the hole behind the extractor cover is 100mm 4inch is that not adequate for the duct as you can get 4" acoustic ducting which is what I've been looking at or should I go bigger? All help appreciated

Depends on the fan size.

You said small grow I think so if your fans a 4" then yeah, if its a 6" then it's a bit of a choke point.
It is only a tiny gap through around 6" of brickwork so it won't be a killer.

Do you have a chimney not in use in the room?
Often there's a vent on the chimney breast or it's been boarded over with a bit of plasterboard which is easy to cut through.
If so smoke test it to make sure it's not capped off first.
That's always my first option because a chimney with heat coming out doesn't stand out on a FLIR if the copper chopper is on the look out.

Yeah there's a chimney with an electric fire in front of it but with it being an upstairs flat not sure if it is just boarded or if it is actually fully bricked up and it would mean running the duct around 20feet as the tent has to be in the room so I didn't want to go that route but now you've got me thinking if I go up into the loft I could knock a brick or two out and go directly up into that just move the tent to opposite side of the room to lessen the duct length will look into that thanks for your help buddy
