They can't indict unless they believe they can win and the Federal bar is ~90% certain. That is why their convection rate is 93%. The chance of criminally convicting Trump with the evidence we know about it's pretty close to zero. The criminal bar is way too high and the USA will never lock up a POTUS Trump or otherwise that was given a pass on impeachment.
We mythologize them good or bad.
This dismisses that both impeachments were stalled cold purely on partisan politics, which problem no longer directly obtains. What we do know (a fact set smaller than what DOJ has, and they are still gathering the particulars) is that that man’s corruption and autocratic ambition are unprecedented in our nation’s history. So I am confident that man will soon be wearing his signature color involuntarily.
I anticipate two upcoming events that should shine a harsh light on both that man and the entire treason wing of the party that has gone rogue. The public hearings promised by the Committee, and the inevitable election subversion trial in Georgia. There is enough there to decapitate NSGOP.
Going to opinion, if that decapitation is not massive and severe, we are done as a republic. We squeaked by only due to that man’s farcical ineptitude. But looking at the things governors in NSGOP states are doing and getting away with in terms of Stalinizing this nation, the existential threat to a government of, for, by the people is even worse now. The next R Presidential candidate will not be a brain-dead buffoon.
