I’ve just popped some new seeds in paper towels and I’ve left them a little long.
a couple of them have separated from the seed (pod) and are a tap root and a set of cotyledons. I’ve planted them as I normally would if the seed was still intact.
Is it okay to do this?
do you think they will grow just fine?

Use gloves to keep as sterile as possible and should be fine.

I been told a few times, don't disturbed roots. And normally I just go " ya" ... cause settling them into their initial pots correctly and gently is just fine if they aren't perfect. It's one time, just don't do it often or unless necessary for plant health.

Just be careful with em, try getting em in before the shell pops off in the future. I hate seedling anxiety, I’m a complete mess of anxiety till they get established, don’t know why I get like that I’m not particularly prone to killing seedlings they just seem so fragile to me like they require constant protection.

Any update? I just had this happen to a seedling that was soaking for 28 hours in water, it completely separated from it's shell.

Thanks. I just placed it inside of a peat pellet. Starting to feel like I overreacted a bit.

I know this might sound crazy but get this right......you can just plant the seed straight in medium and this becomes a non issue.

Hi there yes it was completely fine.
I literally just planted the shoot, little bit of mycorrhizae in the hole, plants came out super healthy. Few weeks to go, looking nice though.
