Best set up for plant count in a 4x4

Very nice, yeah 9 is crazy! They would either have to be very SOG like lollipop’s or it would be a solid wall I would think growing into each other and whatnot, I couldn’t imagine dealing with that much plant in such a small space…at least at my experience level.

There is no correct answer. People are just going to say how many plants they grow and what method they use. It's the same with any "Best" question. Be it lights, nutrients, genetics, etc... There is no best. There is only different opinions based on what an individual was successful with.

Just throw some plants in the tent, give them light, water, and food. Grow them and figure out what you like and what you're successful with. It might take a couple grows but you'll find your rhythm. 21 posts in this thread with most advocating something different than others. There is no exact science. Too many variables. Strain, plant size, flowering time, etc...

I did 11 platinum kush breath remix plants in my last grow and they were all between 6 foot and 8 foot tall lol. But being realistic I would do between 6 and 8 in a 4x4 tent.

Federally registered or non registered plant count (4?)?

I would probably do a multi tier perpetual setup with a dual plant scrog, so you can harvest one larger 8 sq ft plant every month.

Partition the top or bottom 1/3 of the tent by building a sealed off shelf, so you have an area to veg the newest plants that will immediately replace the harvested ones. Unless you have a spare veg tent/area.

You could keep a somewhat bonsai mother plant going (plant #1).

Have a phat branch being air layer cloned from the mom (doesn't count as a plant until you cut it away! You could have 20-1000 clones or more and still only count as one plant until you cut them away, thanks to the grey area of the law..)

A vegging plant right beside mom, ready to replace the oldest plant in flower (plant number 2).

And the 2 out of your 4 remaining plants staggered in the flower partition of the tent, scrogged flat as pancakes to make up for the lost height.

Every month you would be harvesting one, and replacing it with the vegging plant, which is replaced with the new air layered clone (have 2 in case), which is replaced with a fresh air layer, and so on and so forth....

It depends on how big you let them get.
I had 11 in house genetics platinum kush breath remix plants in a 4x4 tent a few years back and they were all at least 6 foot tall. The idea is to work with what you have got. And when I had 11 plants in a 4x4 space I was defoliating heavily for 3 weeks straight at the start of Flower. And I was getting pounds and pounds of leaves, I was flushing away about 20 ounces of leaves down the toilet every day for 3 weeks straight. I was constantly contemplating weather to throw a few plants away because it was like a Jungle in there, But I stuck with it and got massive yields. And the craziest part about it. After 1 week the leaves would all grow back after defoliation. I never got 1 seed in my harvest either. It was all sensimilla. The only thing I could have done better is get a dehumidifier to remove moisture from the air in flower because in 1 of my phenotypes I had powdery mildew. But I have fixed that now and I have got a 20 liter dehumidifier. But I won't be doing 11 plants in a 4x4 space again. I lost 2 stone in weight running around everywhere trying to keep up with them lol. And I had to take out 11 massive 6 foot plants everyday to remove the run off.

I don't let them veg for too long. I used too and got stupidly huge plants for my troubles. I also LST to keep the canopy low. I got 18oz out of my last run. If I had my way I'd do 4, but the wife likes many strains.

Yeah that was probably my main problem. I let them veg for 10 weeks and then I flowered them for another 10 weeks lol and in Flower they tripled in size :bigjoint:

Hows about: laying a 4x4x7.5+ tent over on its side, on top of two 55 gallon storage totes, and grow 2 monster scrogged out DWC plants.

Cut 2 holes in the fabric\lids, and drop the net pots right into the tote lids. Hang dimmable LEDs up as high as possible.

Possibly pull a 4# harvest...

It isnt that crazy. I have four in a 3x3, in 3 gallon pots, and it isnt packed. No lollipopping either, topped a few times.
You could easily fit 8 or 9 in a 4x4

It is an unregistered grow, not worried about numbers, I just want to keep it simple while I learn how to take care of the things I have relied on Mother Nature to in my previous experiences with the plant.
I do have the sort of bonsai’d mother plant, I do have my cloner going and then I think I’ve decided to go with 4 3 gallon pots, coco. Then once I flip those 4 to flower I’m going to get a 2x4 for vegging the next crop.
