Need Hempy buckets info

Hey guys I'm a rookie grower have some plants veging rn in soil but I just ordered a expensive ph ec tds meter and since this will help me fine tune the nutes im just seeking advice about running a 100% perlite hempy , would like to try it with some sort of water pump constantly watering the hempy while it takes back from the drain and re cycling is this possible? Or maybe even hook the pump to a timer to go on and off daily . I know perlite doesn't hold water but it does a tiny bit maybe timer on pump would work best

That would be totally defeating the concept of hempy to have a constant drip.

Hempy (AKA drain to waste) is basically manual hydroponics, you have a hole in the side your container about 2 inches up which provides a reservoir.

Typically they have to be watered daily for smaller 1 or 2 litres container, maybe 3 days for larger 3 gallon pot.

I was just gonna ask a hempy question too but I’ll try here instead of a new thread.

Is the perlite important? Or could I just keep two inches of liquid in the bottom of a bottle and let the roots hang down into it?


I’ve got a plant in a solo with roots hanging like 7 inches out the drain holes so I figured I might be able to cut a little off the top of a 2 liter bottle and set the cup in with the roots hanging down to the bottom.
