where to check trichromes to decide harvest?

I use a calendar, most of the genetics I grow as long as no issues arise are ready to chop in 60-70 days starting from flip to 12/12.
New genetics I will use a jewelers loupe to check trichomes. I shoot for milky trichome heads with some amber but not many, I do not prefer the couch lock tired effect from overly ripe weed. All preference..

Some genetics will flip to flower in veg even if not autoflower. It's pretty rare in my experience but I've had it happen a couple times.
I typically veg 6-8 weeks depending on how stretchy the plant is.

Mine usually show sex around 6 weeks. Perfectly normal and isnt the same as flowering.
There were hairs everywhere the top cola started developing super quick during the 18:6 week 6 veg and really developed by week 8 then started 12/12 was rdy in only 45 days flower. 98%milkycloudy trichromes w 10% amber

I harvest by trichs, like the most pearl or cloudy possible. I like to also see calyxes swelled and not more than a very few white pistils. I would take a few more amber instead of clear. Some plants can be very quick in going from cloudy to amber. My clippers come out when I start seeing trykes that are clear with dark brown center.

Make real sure you are looking at calyxes for trichs. Leaf trichs go amber much quicker than those on calyxes. We trim leaves and smoke calyxes.

Turnover. I veg for 2 weeks, 7 weeks later I’ll havest 8lbs. I could do what you say & chop In a couple more weeks very little if any benefit then 3 & a half months later I maybe harvesting the next lot. Or I could chop nice 8 or so pounds of fat sticky ripe buds in a couple days & then in a little over 2 months do it all again. Do the math its all about turnover

Do you have any pics of your ripe buds?

It's certainly your prerogative to chop after 7 weeks, ready or not.

To say there's "very little if any benefit" to waiting longer than 7 weeks is folly unless your only concern is turn-around time.

I could’ve happily chop.Its at day 50 now I’ll chop in 2 days
I did? My frst grow ever but its a harlequin a high cbd strain n i seen ppl on ilgm forum also say they had a harlequin start flowering in 18/6 late veg before switching to 12/12. Cbd is supposed to be harvested early no? Let alone the googster said harvest at 50% to 70-80% dark receeding hairs n i did so w 98% milkycloudy trichs n 10% ambers i hope its still ok cuz i got 10 days to dry tops n then 1 month cure n ill see m8
