I get bored growing the same strain every year

Grew some mendo purple urkle overthe winter. Some of the best pot I've ever had for getting to bed. Awesome grape terps and sticky buds. Just a dream to smoke. As much as I like it tho it's become a only before bed smoke(makes you so relaxed and tired, not a productive daytime smoke)and probably the most effective medicine I've had for that, I suck at falling asleep. One good rip from the bub and I feel it just roll up to my brain from behind my eyes and laying in bed sounds like the most amazing thing.
Anyways I popped another bean for outdoor, I just really don't want to run out lol. The only strain I felt I needed to repeat right away.

I see a ton of folks here that stick to the same couple of strains every grow.

I just can't smoke the same strain year after year. I get bored of the taste and the high.

I have not grown the same strain 2 years in a row ever.

Last year was mimosa and wedding cake.

Year before that was BC big bud

This year is white widow, forbidden fruit, forbidden fruit cake, and dream berry.

Do you grow the same strains over and over? Or is having something different each year your style?
No offense at all, but I wouldn't grow any of those strains more than maybe a couple times. ;).

Perhaps you just haven't found your "keeper" yet. We have one pheno of PBB that we have no intention of letting go, and I have every intention of growing it about every other grow, indefinitely.

I totally get your original point, but again, once you find something that checks all your boxes, you might change your tune.

I hate running the same strains all the time. Did that for years sales purposes, keeping mothers for several years at a time. Finally quit selling and now it's usually 3 or 4 different strains at a time. Also I grow autos as well as photos. I'm finally free from what other people want so now I grow anything that will pique my interest!!

I have to have options and grow as many different strains as I can at once. In tents for harvesting and plant canopy purposes I'll usually grow the same strain or try to atleast sativas or indica's only. Before doing that I'd have a huge sativa I'm trying to keep low vs a short indica or having to harvest a indica out of a trellis net while the longer flowering sativa stays. It's harder trying to maintain a even plant canopy when one plants 2ft taller than another, even harder harvesting one plant from trellis. With that said unless you get quality seeds it's all hit and miss. I get the different strains with outdoor autos 3 to 4 different strains, every 75 - 85 days or so once perpetually growing. Just start a new when current harvest looks a little less than a month out

But I dont grow weed to just get high, I did in my younger days, now I'm more into the medical benefits and like to have a strain for whatever ails you.

I cloned the same sativa strain (a no-name mystery)- from a preferred mother for about 5 years under HIDs.
I had no access to any other unless I went out of state. I bought some other at times but not much. I now intend to try a different type every year- after 2 grows under LEDs:
One from seeds and the other as clones from those seed mothers. So I shut down in the summer (about now) for at least 6 months. I got a stash!

We can grow recreational legally here now.................so I dont need to buy medical pot if I can grow it as recreational..I no longer need that med card.

I am now like a kid in a candy store with all these internet seed sources.

Yeah- we need a co- op!

Its cool to see the variation in seeds. I haven’t had that many seeds at once since that quarter i bought in 1990 lol

Have a jar of mixed bag seed I've collected over the years and randomly grow from it for fun.

i run a perpetual, and about every 4 or 5 months i'll start a seed of a new strain to throw in the mix, which is already 3 or 4 strains all the time, i hardly ever harvest two of the same strain in a row, so i get to go at least a month and a half or two months before i hit the same one again...not sure i could smoke the same shit every day for months at a time without getting bored and quickly building a resistance

Limited to 7 plants I popped 7 seeds of the same strain, picked a keeper and popped 6 seeds of a different strain, picked a keeper and popped another 5 seeds of a different strain, picked a keeper and popped 4 more seeds of a different strain. I’m just gonna keep going until I have a variety of top shelf, no use having a variety if only a few are top shelf IMHO
