for those of you who measure your runoff EC hydro coco

Did you make that or is pre frabed?

I really like the cleanliness of your lower layout. Its beautiful. I keep it Clean down there. But if your that clean. I could be cleaner with less work.

different strains would need their very own section, and the seed would need to be available, and have most solutions to problems you run into, otherwise im pretty sure this source doesnt cover much in flower which is the most important stage.

looks like a dope setup, and thanks for the advice, not trying to throw out water so i learn from each batch i make and tbh i can just mix it and put it in at 1.27 EC or 1.2EC and theyl have clean water and plenty of nutes. could try adding less calmg to see if deficiencies stop and water more often as u and snickerpus said. notably what snickerpus said about ph in rootzone. all food for thought

Thanks, I bought the parts and put it together. The trays are "Drain Away Trays":

They sell them through Home Depot online, so I ordered them there and had them delivered to my local store, then bought the parts from home depot to plumb it together. I bought the condensate pump from harbor frieght for $50, which included the pump hose and a backflow stop valve.

I should have specified car. Motorcycles are different, IMO you should check tire PSI weekly, like calibrating a pH pen; most don't. I always do/did.

What do you consider "short EC"? My plants get fed like 1.4 EC

I don't use CalMag, but that's because my feed already has plenty of both. I use Jacks 321, which includes both CalNit (lots of Calcim) and Epsom Salts(Lots of Mag). My suggestion for folks growing in coco is to automate your feeds first thing. All you need is a couple of small aquarium pumps, 1/4" drip line, and some connectors and drip emitters. Easy peasy.

Growing isn't an art it's science based. Everything I do is science based and didn't come from a Grow Bible. I've been growing plants of all kinds for over 50 years. I apply the same science to cannabis as I do with any other plant.

There is nothing special about growing a cannabis plant. It's one of the easier plants that I grow. Soil, coco, hydro, etc... Just feed it properly and it does the rest. Most of the problems people have is because they do too much. The amount of posts on this forum from people chasing runoff like a damn dog chasing its tail is staggering.

If you provide the proper inputs then your plants will be healthy.

People checking runoff should focus more on keeping plants healthy by learning the science behind plant nutrition so they can keep their plants healthy. If your plants are healthy what reason would there be to check runoff?

And also, what the hell are you going to do with runoff data? It doesn't tell you anything regarding nutrient levels other than overall EC which isn't accurate from runoff anyway. It doesn't tell you any NPK values.

I know people who have nutrient specific probes, so they are able to check more than just overall EC. I agree that checking runoff isn't necessary, and that understanding proper plant nutrition is more important. However logging runoff data can show you trends which can be useful in better dialing in your grow. I don't do it now, but I've done it in the past, and it has helped me to improve my grow.

runoff reads .5 EC instead of inflow being 1.1 EC and runoff reflecting that but like state many times by many here its not going to mean problems but if they do arise then i can look into raising ec which i can do by not diluting or mixing with tap water and it will be 1.3 but wanted to do it slowly because i changed alot of things, drastically, quickly, and they look happy but as snickerpus said im depriving them of nutes by diluting or keeping full dose of calmg, i can meet somewhere in the middle with every ones advice, maybe set one aside on its own with no calmg at all. just read i could flower soon and want to try putting two to flower real soon. little SOG test to see if i can make a harvest and i would have a my first routine going to start.

i dont mind hand watering for now but i worry about uneven water distribution with autofeeders

It's like a parent who worries more about how many Flintstone vitamins their kid is eating, instead of ensuring a balanced and varied diet.

That's an entirely different scenario and provides you with actual usable data. In larger scale growing operation that data can be valuable. Specifically for hydro systems with recirculating nutrients. Some hobby grower checking runoff from a few pots of coco doesn't give you anything other than if it's too high and in that circumstance you were feeding too much which goes back to just worrying about what goes in.

did you see those colas lol hope they werent some other growers but i think stardog posted his own harvest there but i likely cannot follow everything hes doing, and like the probes PJ Diaz said i am not getting that any time soon. an RO filter is first and other setup things but its good to know not to worry, but im not diluting anymore so lets see what happens when i make that next batch and forward in like 2 days
