Nutrients

Let me try this again. I have been growing for less than 2 years and have only grown inside. I am using a vipraspectra 1350 programmable in a vivosun tent. I also have a 1000 HPS in a grow room. I have had good success with both potency and Bud size. Sometimes the buds aren't as dense as I would like. I use ocean forest soil and jungle juice GMB. A friend suggested I switch to nectar of the Gods, persephones palate, for density for the last 2-3 feedings. Is this a good idea?

Density has more to do with genetics than what you feed it for the last couple of weeks. I dont believe in feeding stuff for the sake of increasing traits that have no impact on flavor or effect.
Thanks, but not an answer. I don't use nutrients for the last week of bud, water only. The question was, is it safe to switch nutrients during bud stage.

You can switch nutrients anytime you want. As long as you're giving the plant what it needs it doesn't care about brand. What can cause problems is when people don't understand plant nutrition or what's in the products they're feeding their plants. Going from one nutrient line to another isn't a big deal as long as you're not overfeeding. Mixing and matching different products can cause issues if you don't have an understanding of what's in those products which can lead to overfeeding something while not feeding enough of something else because of the different formulations of nutrient brands.

Also, that Persephones Palate is basically just a calcium syrup derived from calcium lignosulfonate. That's not going to do much. It's not going to put massive weight and density into the buds.

You don't need fancy additives to get rock hard buds. You can grow from start to finish with just a basic nutrient like MaxiBloom and get rock hard buds that are so dense they're hard to smoke. Keeping the plants healthy, plenty of light, and a good environment will give you what you're looking for as long as you have the right genetics. Chasing a bottle of this or that isn't the way to find what you're looking for.

Environment/Temps can also play a role in density. More specifically making sure your highs are in check.

Thank you. I'm glad I didn't buy any. I try to keep it as simple as possible. I have learned quite a bit out of necessity. I understand the what when and how much of the nutrients i started with. I researched others and they are fairly comparable to each other. It's when people recommend other nutrients that I start to wonder if I am doing anything I can improve on. This is a pretty good place to ask questions.

It's taken a while to get it right, but I have the environment under control. Temp and humidity are controlled. All I have to do is make sure the PH is right, and keep my meter calibrated.

Just a little "critical thinking" would tell you no.

How could the last 2-3 feedings possibly bulk up flowers that have been developing for MONTHS? Makes no sense. --dont take this as me insulting you by any means, just pointing out a simple thing that you're overlooking.

You can't just magically make weed fuller/stronger/better in the final days.

Damn it. This is like my 5th forum that I have asked a question and end up feeling stupid. Then 1 right after another will pile on and make it worse. Well I don't think I will stick around for that. I'm just trying to get it right with what resources i have available. I'm out. I'll try another one. Maybe by the 100th forum I might know all this.

Running RH at 40-50% and selective pruning to keep the airflow through the plant high are probably the best ways to improve bud density. How closely you're packing plants in is related to this same issue.

If you have a single environment 50% RH will work fine for everything but if you have a flower only environment you can lower the RH to 40-45% the last 3 weeks of flower. If you really want to fine tune the moisture level look into vapor pressure deficit VPD.

Those two thing are the major determinants of bud density. Too much vegetative matter and/or too high RH and the plants will produce fluffy buds to mitigate the chance of fungal infection. The rest is genetics and healthy plants.

Where did people pile on you? Are you really this sensitive?

Every other site I've been on has been the same. Ask a question that may seem common knowledge to someone and they respond in a manner that says you should have known that and all kinds of other people who knew that respond The same way. It doesn't help me. So I will pick up little pieces from most of the decent members who just want to give helpful answers. I'm not trying to be overly sensitive, but I'm learning as i go. I can't afford to make a mistake.

Stomping your feet and making “I’m leaving” posts is overly sensitive

Exactly what I was getting at. Now I'm responding to this. You could have added something constructive or said nothing. It's why people go to so many forums, most people don't say anything, they just move on. That's what I usually do, but thought I would mention it so people will keep it in mind.
