Humidity issues.

I guess we are growingf in different environments... Sounds like you are open, and Im sealed up tight....or have been anyways. Sealed RH seems to react differently to me that fresh air intake. I have no scientific evidence to prove that. Sealed, CO2 fed air reacts differently than fresh air intake. Im sure there are other things at play that will affect dew point, RH and temps opposed to sealed up, with no fresh air, and fresh air intake..... more research should be done.

In ur older sealed grow room did the RH go up or down when the lights were on? I would think it went down. And it’s not cause the lights were “burning up water vapor”. I don’t think it matters sealed vs not. The hotter the temps the lower the RH. Lights on = warmer temps = lower RH. Lights off = cooler temps = higher RH.

I’m sure u all have way more growing experience than I do. That’s why I came in here to ask some questions and hopefully get some good feedback.
I was messing around this summer with a few clones that a buddy gave me. And had so much fun watching them grow that I decided to get my indoor thing going again. .

Low 60s during lights off is not a problem, low 40s during lights on is bad, unless your lights on temps are very low. Get a VPD chart and follow.

I’m looking at the future for the end of flowering. If my RH is 60% at the end of flower things could get ugly.

keeping my RH at 50-60% is not a problem Keeping it lower has been.
i ordered a 50 pint dehumidifier. The one I have is only 30 pint so hopefully this will work

I've never once had my humidity under 60% during flowering

No issues with botrytis

Stagnant air and nighttime humidity spikes are a much bigger concern as far as bud rot goes

That’s interesting. I’m just trying to get all the info I can before I put my plants into my room. Everywhere I read says u want the RH to be around %40 for the end of flowering.
I just don’t want any PM or but rot

My RH goes up at lights out but I have a 6 inch fan constantly dumping air outside and 2 16 inch fans blowing air around like crazy. No issues yet, knock on wood.

Thanks. I looked into vpd charts. Man this growing shit got way scientific since I last grew.

a nice high capacity dehumidifier will take care of the issue. you just need to have one capable of bringing the rh of the lung room down to where you'd like your tent to be. bigger the lung room the bigger the dehumidifier will have to be unfortunately.

So I’m starting my indoor grow again after a 8 year break. I have a 5.5’x5.5’ box with mars hydro fc800 and a 6” inline exhaust fan with a carbon filter. I also have a dehumidifier and some circulating fans. The box is build in my basement garage which is very humid 70%sh RH.
I’m not having issues with the lights on. Heat goes up and RH goes down. But when the lights are off my RH gets to the low 60s%.
I think what happening a that my dehumidifier is working but the exhaust fan is exhausting all the dry air that my dehumidifier made and it is sucking in the air in the garage which is very humid.
I’m not sure the size of the dehumidifier (I’m can’t remember bought it 10 years ago).
I was looking at a 50 pint dehumidifier that says it’s good up to 4500 square foot rooms
That’s what’s going on. Anybody out there growing in super humid areas have any ideas on how to get my humidity down to 35-40% during lights off?

Are you running an A/C unit?
