Time for LST or Defol yet?

In their 4th week and topped once when the first real leaves came through (4th/5th node). Was planning to 4 way lst but the mains aren’t quite long enough to tie down yet. Should I start bending them anyway or wait until they are long enough to pin down to the pot? They are bushy little things (can’t see any stems without bending leaves) so not sure if I should start defol yet?

Strain is gelato feminised from nirvana. Growing in rdwc under a hlg-100 4k LED for veg. Light can’t be dimmed and is only 12” from the canopy, hence the short node spacing. Can’t raise the light either so they are getting ~700ppfd for 18 hours a day (42 DLI).

I tie down when the branches are getting long enough to start tying down I woudn't start with that plant in the earlier post, but a a bit further along. I also don't usually start tying down until I've topped. I then re-top the branches that have been tied down laterally eventually once they're out past the edges of the 5g bags.

I don't mess with any of that until I've got at least nodes to work with, then I usually trim the lowest 2 nodes so I have some room under the trained branches for watering and inspection and if I need to mess with the medium. From there I top so I have a few nodes to LST.
