DAY 43 (DAY 7 OF FLOWER)

Came back from thanksgiving break. My AG res was pretty much empty. Topped it off and watered my lone plant in soil, also topped off the res of my dwc. The plants have stretched towards the light a little. Heres a pic, back to regular updates.

how did you go about water curing your smoke? never done this before. is there only one way to go about doing it?

Well, fuck! I forgot to take a picture today during the light cycle. So you guys will have to wait until tomorrow. I added 30 ml of the bloom formula and the regular 10 ml of the liquid karma. I am thinking of purchasing a few cfls. Seems like I had to move the light for 1 plant so I want to make sure the others have enough light.

Well, heres a pic finally. I added 4 cfls just cuz I thought my hps was too far away, just for one plant. Makes me feel better knowing the shorter plants are getting some more light. Also, I included a pic of how tangled and shit the branches are haha. It's a jungle! No signs of sex yet.

DAY 47 (DAY 11 OF FLOWER)

Well, a lot happened today. Some good, some bad. First the good. My biggest plant is showing female sex! KOWABUNGA! I was thrilled to see that. I also lollipopped my other 2 plants. Thats the bad news. I should of been lollipopping three plants. I had done 2 and I accidently cut part way into the main stem of my smalled plant. As i trimmed the last one and pulled out its lower branches, it got tangled with my smallest plant and it just fell over. I tried taping it but decided not to bother. It was my smallest plant and knowing my biggest plant was a female made up for it. She has 7 bud sites right now. I also trimmed the side branches on the 7 biggest branches. I just want those big main colas, not the light fluffy buds. The other 2 plants are not showing sex yet.

Yo Josh... did I guess? Yo I just read through your grow and I'm also on my second week of flower. I still haven't take pics but I'll let you know. Just a question, I'm doing a peudo-soil grow (I have a bit of soil mixed with tons of vermiculite so not sure what to call it), but watering 100% by hand. I wanted to go homemade DWC next, but was scared of algae buildup or other issues. Looks like you have been pretty problem free, true? I don't have any rockwool or net cups and I can't really order cause I'm out of the country, but I'm pretty sure I can hook it up with vermiculite, some perlite I have leftover from shrooms, a tupperware container like yours, some type or homemade net pots (lots of work for something that's so cheap in the states), an air pump, and one (or do I need more) airstones. Looks like you just tried to make the bubbles wet the roots, or do your roots actually sit down in the solution? How do you deal with keeping the level right is you just let the bubbles burst and wet the roots?

Sorry if this doesn't belong here..... but I want to copy your setup (sick of watering everyday, especially since tap water here is 290 PPM- that's to high right? and I buy distilled water by the gallon... all the time. If anyone is going to be suspicious, it's gonna be the guys who see the 17 bottles outside my house all the time).

I have been pretty issue free. You shouldnt have a problem with algae buildup so long as there is no light penetrating into your reservior. Algae needs light to grow so if you deprive that you should be cool. My water level is right where the bottom of the cups touch the water, so my roots are actually sitting in the solution. Airstone wise you cant over-do it, the more the better. I have a 10 in and 5 in airstone in mine and that seems adequate. I probably have about 8 gallons in my 10 gallon tub. As far as using vermaculite and homemade net pots, it can be done. I've seen pics of people's homemade nets pots, it works, its just time consuming. You should just check a few hydro stores online and see if they deliver to your country, they probably do. Only thing I would do different is maybe only have 4 plants per a tub, as six seems crowded.

Thanks for the feedback, mixed input on my ghetto variation, but I'm gonna give it a shot with clones (I got more where they came from). I'll get the equipment soon, the problem is not getting it here, it's getting customs to release it... pain in the butt. At least the food is good as hell here so I got great stuff to munchon. All the best and I'll take your advice on less plants per container.

BTW, I always thought it might be easy to flip the lid over on one of those rubbermaids and build an ebb and flow in the inverted top, slightly more work on the timer side, but WTF I'll try both. Thanks for feedback and keep trucking.

One more question, does starting PPM of water matter much for DWC? I would think much less than in soil (I'm gonna search for the answer now)>>>>

You have to start giving nutes earlier than you would soil. Soil already has nutrients in it, and if your growing hydroponically, its just water to start off with. I give my plants a low dose of nutes after 2 weeks. I believe most people start feeding their plants in soil after 3 weeks.

This grow is in some 10 gal sterlite tubs. I do have an aerogarden and it is still in the flowering chamber. I have two plants still flowering in it. I've had better results this far in my DWC tubs. AG just doesnt have a big enough reservior.

Just stopping in to say hi. Hows that water cured bud treating ya? I water cured half my harvest this year and the smoke is great! the only down side is it doesn't really taste like weed, idk maybe its just me.
