Which structure to hang a light from without using a tent or using the ceil?

The tent frame is possible but the 3 bars across the top wont be stable without the tent fabric wrapped around the outside. Any simple ideas or pics to illustrate pls?

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking?

Any reasonable tent frame shouldn't need to be wrapped up to have stability.

This was a response from a Mars Hydro rep. Their response had me slightly concerned.

I use a Mars FC8000 with 4 light hangers, one in each corner going vertically up. I prob should give it a try but a lot of work to adjust the tent.

I see what you're saying, but just use one crossbar and make an X with two ratchet straps. Using two crossbars is madness. Plus you can level or angle it with an X, without having to adjust all of the ratchets.

Do you mean you just want to use the frame without the actual tent fabric? The frame isn't very stable on its own because there's nothing bracing it. It can handle vertical loads, but the horizontal stability comes from the fabric. It's also why positive pressure makes them unstable.

Any pictures, I'm missing something.

I've a 720w watt bar light which i hang with two ratchet hangers on one of the roof support bars.

My main tents have frames that can bear my weight with ease.

Buying tents the pole diameter is one of the most important aspects to me, I had a secret Jardin 150 and it was pish it could barely support a decent fan and filter.

The tent I'm using atm (bloom room) has a 6" fan and filter plus around 30lbs of light on it with no problem.

Yeah, but you're using the tent as intended. He just wants to use the frame without the fabric. I think, anyway.

I don't see a point in doing that though. The worst part of a tent is the height limitations. The best part is being able to make an isolated environment. That and being able to hang everything from it. I have old heavy ass lights, carbon filters, various fans, scrog frames, my Growtek setup, my AC ducting, sensors, random bungee hooks for holding wands, and probably other stuff hanging from my frame.

What's the construction like?

Most tents have metal corners which click in and are very rigid
But then there's others that use plastic corners and just use gravity to hold themselves in.

The fabric does help keep them rigid but with 25mm metal poles and corners its a solid frame on its own.

Yep, there's a lot of bloody good reasons we use tents.
My main one is isolating the smell.

My frames don't need to be wrapped up, seriously i can do pull ups from the bare frame.

I've put a bulb holder in the pole for scale, iirc they're 25/30mm

Bloom room and a green room are solid built tents.

Thank you for all your opinions and advice. I am going to keep the tent as is and have improved the air flow but adding a mini fan near the back. Mostly I wanted to remove the tent fabric for space to get in the back and sides easily and for air flow. I use an open tent anyway.

Check out home box tents, the doors open up the way, you can roll them up and clip them in place.

Good luck!
