Oxygenate, quietly.

Hey guys!

Show me, tell me the best way to set up sprayers...

The air pumps for air stones are too noisy...... I've been through loads cheapo and expensive I've tried over size turned down and multiple tiny ones. They don't work for me i hate the hummmm..

My cloner has a submersible pump and a spray manifold and It's nearly silent the only noise you can hear is water hitting the walls. So my thinking is;

I'm in a 1200 X 1200.
I'm thinking, get a 4 site oxypot (or any large and deep, water tight container) and make a spray manifold around the perimeter with a submersible pump.

does it need to actually spray the roots or can I use a submersible pump to just make waves? I've been reading that breaking the surface is what needed not necessarily the bubbles...

What do you think?
How do you oxiginate your solution?

cheers

I always put a foam pad or towel under then to help quiet them.. it wouldnt stop the noise completely but it helped..

Found the bubblegen recently anyone had any experience with these? They are £30 but don't really wanna waste it if they are trash.

When I'm using it i hang my air pump from soft elastic.

If it's for cloning I found a power head pump recirculating the water worked as well as my 4x outlet air pump and 2x 12" stones only much quieter.

Yea tried one of them. As you say quiet my ass!!
I've been suggested so many air pumps now they are never quiet.. the way they work makes noise. Simple. Hanging from bunjies placed, on foam or on acoustic matting they a just have a noise deep in them that annoys me. It's on me I know loads of people that it doesn't bother them... But I'm in search for something quieter... Or even just a different pitch might work.. I like the look of these bubble gens... They run of a submersible pump and my cloner uses one of them and that not annoying...

Awesome thanks mate! I'll look into power head pumps!

Here's a picture of both methods.

Idk the time difference between the pictures, both methods were roughly the same time frame.

The power head actually looks better, I'm putting that down to the time difference in pics...but maybe not?

Elastic is essential for stopping vibration traveling.

Eta... A recirculating pump adds a few degrees to the water temperature, it's beneficial in winter, in summer you might to allow for the heat.

Get a airpump that has settings on low setting mine is super quiet.

You can allsoo do a waterfall if running water sound is not a problrm for you?

So after some reasearch I've hopefully cracked it.

I'm gonna get one.of these
and elevate it up a little Screenshot_2022-12-21-14-43-15-64_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.jpg

Then I'm gonna. Try one of these... (Bubblegen) Screenshot_2022-12-21-14-45-03-67_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.jpg
They have decent reviews and I like the idea of getting the intake from outside to help cool the res. I also like the idea of it's being run by a submersible pump they are much quieter. I'll update the thread once it's arrived and set up see how it goes!

Use a Venturi with your spray pump to incorporate air into the water. I also hate the hum of the air pumps. But honestly air stones just work the best for me.

Waves are not the solution. Oxygen is dissolved in water most rapidly by breaking the waters surface. Spray onto the surface of the water and it will work out fantistic

I use to use just a single drop , but incorporated these 4 squirters instead.

Also have a active aqua pump using the Venturi fitting bubbling in my reservoir and then a dual waterfall on my return.

I've thought about using a pvc pipe filled with hydroton. Stick that up from the res and pump water to the top and let it flow back to the res. Should oxygenate well enough and be quiter than air stones or regular waterfalls. Maybe? Haven't tried it yet. Might be a terrible idea :'D
