I would imagine it needs to be wired to the house electricity. Does anyone know if you can just wire it to an extension cord?

sure can, black to black white to white, and the copper wire from the light goes to green

good to go

just make sure its rated 120 volts
i looked at their lights and its a multi tap ballast so you just need to find the neutral (white) and the other wire labled 120
ask the company for specs
