Kevin's House?

How is it defection, there is zero chance of a democrat speaker, point is made, move on and maybe get a concession or two in the process.
Jeffries said this morning he was open to working with moderate Republicans to find a way out of this.

McCarthy could make a deal with democrats that would make the maga element of the party inconsequential. Of course that would require courage, a thing not exactly in McCarthy’s wheelhouse.

They only need a dozen moderate republicans and a compromise speaker from outside the house would be easier to swallow, Jefferies would be heavy lift for them. A minority government situation is still possible though, depending on how stupid the magats are. As I said, the budget is covered and they can let them twist in the wind, the only thing is though, does their pay begin after thy are sworn in or before? That could actually be the deciding factor!

Screw them, the GQP is just playing games like always.

They need to stretch drama out as long as possible because they know hearings might just fall flat to their cult. They just owned the news cycle for days already.

Also is it some sick joke that they just happen to nominate someone and claim it is (rightly so) a major step forward for the GOP because he is black and is now going to lose over and over again to detract from Jefferies making history?

The Republican trolling knows no bounds.

Nine minutes of Republican cannibalization..this is great..of course the Dems are united and enjoying every minute but a word from the sponsor..wtf? why are there babies, children and just about everyone else is walking on our hallowed House Floor? No one is supposed to be there unless you have a pin..why does a member find it difficult to be present for the vote? Why are names called over and over..shut your mouths and listen up..no wonder why this place doesn't work with GOP- now isolated you can see where\who the dysfunction is coming from. Boebert on Hannity? the record is 133 days from Civil War times.

They have been met, identified and found considerably lacking in measure. Dems still hold the most votes, despite not having a majority.
Parliamentary politics and minority governments are still possible in the house, though unlikely, we will see what the GOP suicide squad does.

They might have owned the news cycle but they look like fucking idiots even to their base, the party is split wide open from grass roots to Mitch at the top. He was out with Joe spending the money they passed while Kevin fights for his life in the house!

not if it means dignifying systemic racists, dominionists and other enemies of freedom. Let the Repugs enjoy the consequences of their corrosive politics. Like the other guy said, fuckm with a die grinder.
McCarthy could make a deal with enough Democrats enabling him to ignore the demands of the maga morons. He could get enough votes from democrats and republicans if he actually tries to govern and promises not to give these maga clowns what they want.

Yep, he has no values, no soul and would be up for it and the death threats which would pour in! If they stand for nothing, they will fall for anything. Kevin would cut yer throat as soon as look at ya.

I think this is all just manufactured outrage porn. Their 'base' won't remember any of this shit, and by the time their trolls program their spammed messaging about it, it really won't matter because they will be made to think something along the lines of 'should have never made anyone speaker' or any of the other infinite possibilities to whip up distrust in our institutions.

And I doubt they could give a shit less about who the Republicans end up choosing, they know nothing is going to come out of the house for the next couple years. They are out bracing now to show the nation that the government is still functioning even with the shit show in the House.

I wonder if he and 20 republicans cut a deal with the democrats, what would the reaction of the base and right wing media be! Would they storm the capitol again with Trump exhorting and leading them up the capitol steps?

I think the Democrats will do better if they look like they’re trying to help. Leadership from the minority party is a good look.

You’re probably right about the republicans trolling but the democrats can still make political hay out of it.

This shit show isn't helping them and neither is the division in the party, soon to have the hand grenade of Trump's indictment and J6 thrown into the mix!

Isn't helping who? I am not sure who you mean. I think there is so many branches of ramifications of this with each having some benefits and some harm as a result of this.

But I don't think they are any more or less divided than they were last year. And no matter what 2024 is going to be another fight. The Republicans still have their current bullet proof house majority thanks to the severe gerrymandering and voting suppression in major states.

The Republicans are currently divesting themselves from Trump, he can't be forgotten, but they REALLY want him to be so that they can just pretend like they are not responsible for the attack on our democracy for their actions over the last couple decades to radicalize their 'base'.

Let him. He’ll just look stupid when it’s over.
I am looking forward to it. Watching them scramble to one of their Candace Owens trolls to try to own the libs when they start slipping against someone far more confident in their expertise from the Biden Administration.

We just need six moderates..I agree..make a deal. Won't McCarthy be in lockup though for his participation in J6 that they haven't gotten to yet?
