Hi
I’ve started my first grow and already having issues. The plants are 10 days old since they germinated. Two out of five plants have brown spots on leaves and don’t look healthy at all. Started them in ProMix HP and haven’t added any nutrients yet. I’ve attached a couple photos for reference. Any help is appreciated.

It's still young, so I say ride it out a little and see what it does.

I start in solo cups of promix hp too, but I start a mild feed from the beginning since there's nothing in promix hp.

Look better than my leggy ass 10 day olds. But i'm just doing test grow of seeds
so light is just natural, and table lamp only.

Yep I have drain holes in the bottom. For some reason that one stayed wet longer than all the others. I’m just hoping it’s not fatal whatever the issue is

Let them dry out well and start with 1/2 or 1/4 strength nutes next time they NEED, water. Overall, they don't look that bad, get the water and nutes under control and they should rebound.

Ok thanks. I’m thinking it’s a light issue but I have no idea. I’m using a 600W light with veg and bloom switch. Not sure what the actual wattage would be. What height would you recommend I hang it at, and also would you just run the veg switch for now? I’ve read conflicting articles about running both throughout the whole grow.

Your plant is basically a seedling still. It really doesn’t need too much light yet. I’ve only had two indoor grows, pretty new too, but following directions and reading various advice, I was successful both times running at around 30% power at the equivalent stage. Gear things up slowly as more leaves appear. If there are only two settings, then definitely veg and a little distance, imo. You can read about par/ppfd demands of weed at various stages of growth and get a cheap phone app that helps give a rough estimate.

The led light intensity depends on what the light draws from the wall, not the equivalent to an HPS. If you have a true draw 600 watt light, that’s a lot of power! My guess is it’s a 600w equivalent, go by what the manufacturer says and see how that goes, adjust as necessary. Ball park would be somewhere between 12-24 inches. Run veg and bloom together, otherwise you’ll be running at half power to start with.

Pro-Mix HP still holds a lot of water on its own. I have used it lots in the past and would mix it 50/50 with perlite. It dries out quicker but pretty much makes it impossible to over water and in my opinion stimulates root growth which supports bigger, healthier plants. All that being said, I would keep them in the current mix until they establish good strong roots and then transplant into a lighter mixture of Pro-Mix and Perlite.

As for the lighting, I run 450w LEDs and start around 30% working up to 50% at 24"-18" above the plants. But I also use a PAR meter so I know exactly what my plants are getting. At 18” and 50%, they are getting just over 600μmol. With your light, I would probably do something similar, maybe at 25" to 30" above the plants in your case since you are running 600 watts.
