New Pest in Hawaii, please help identify

Got new pest in Hawaii. My buddy has it on his plants and doesn't know what it is. Any help identifying it would be greatly appreciated.

They Bore into the stem. Not thrips.

Don't know....kill them anyway, go over kill that's a bad infestation

Could be a broad or russet mite. I second the neem treatment. Get on a schedule of treatment for a bit and get through the crop.
