THC is lipophilic so if you take it with some fat it binds to the fat and is relatively rapidly absorbed via the normal lipid metabolism pathway. If you want it to go a little faster alcohol is quicker that's why sublingual administration with an alcohol base is so attractive. Especially since it bypasses the first pass (cytochrome P450) filter of your liver so you get more of the active drug. Mode of administration matters.
