Cool, haven't seen a yellow variant before.
Same heat, different color?
I'm not sure as the bravery is lacking here. Two guys at camp each cut a piece off one, did a pepper cheers and popped it in their mouth. It wasn't long before they were choking - not funny at all. Warnings were repeatedly issued that they're amongst the hottest in the world. Hear me now, believe me later applied.

The peppers will be gifted to a friend that makes hot sauce - taming them first with carrots, onions, molasses, etc.

Hot sauce?
It's simple to make and it keeps well.
The fumes are an issue as you might expect
You pretty much have to saute the peppers outdoors, and upwind, or wear a respirator.
Fortunately, I don't cook mine at all. I ferment raw totally submerged in brine for a couple months with whole garlic cloves. Pureed with white vinegar and bottled. Keeps forever.

Here's that Fresno plant that I seeded from Superstore produce section stock. 1 flower started growing in it a couple of months ago, and I obliged my Wife in keeping it. She knows what they are, but said that she doesn't grow them, so I'm assuming seeded from rain.

Here are some peppers I harvested today. Top 2 rows on left are the Fresnos. Black ones are pretty neat. Jalepenos on right, hungarian bottom left, and 3 Teensy Reapers bottom middle. I still have a bunch on all the plants I'm still ripening. We have a week of nice 20°C weather coming up. Covered everything last night for frost warning.

Small update. The Fresno's blow. No heat and lack taste. I'll have to find a good seed source.
Can't speak on your circumstance but I find peppers taste best when drought stressed towards the end. Too much rain or watering and they become water logged or start to split. Kills the heat and flavor, especially towards the end of the season when it starts to cool off. At least in my experience.

@D3monic , I tested a jalapeno from another plant that was harvest yesterday as well. Taste and heat were there, so I'm going to have to go with bad genetics. I'm making a big assumption without any facts or research, but considering the quality of any produce in a large grocery chain, the genetics are more than likely swayed for looks, not taste and quality.

I'd be interested to know if anybody else has seeded a pepper from a store with results equal to a breeder, seed outlet, or home seeding.

Here’s some of what I picked today. We have a big storm coming up the east coast so figured I’d get some weight off the branches, hopefully they will survive the winds. There’s bell, New Mexico, Anaheim, Ghost, Habanero, Arbol, Fresno, Serrano, Pepperocini, Red, Yellow and Purple Cayenne, Aji Amarillo, pimento, Thai and I’m sure I’m missing some.
