Sour diesel

no I believe his is just a sour diesel pheno based on his description; "The NYC Diesel has its roots in the Big Apple, a friend brought the seeds and said that it was the best pot he ever smoked, he had dreads down to the ground so I believed him. This Cannabis tastes and smells like Ripe Red Grapefruits, once you touch the fresh buds you can’t smell the other strains in your room or garden. " but idk

diesel/sour diesel is always difficult for me because I know what I know from reading but I know what I know from growing up in and around NY and they often times conflict with each other..

for me I want to say 98-04, maybe even past 04 but that was when I started branching out much more.. I lived 30 minutes upstate but in NYC I would have available to me what came in hard colored see through plastic containers and was as the story commonly goes smelly enough that people in the next room knew you had arrived regardless how you bagged it..

both sour diesel and what was called nyc diesel were available, the difference in the two was sour diesel had some citrus at the end of the exhale somewhere between grapefruit to lemony, it wasn't the primary flavor but it was the distinguishing factor between the two, diesel was all gas no fruit the sour seemed more uplifting get up and go kind of smoke, heavy high but motivated (kind of haze like) and the diesel seemed more knock your ass out.. sour if I remember correctly was also a brighter green and diesel was usually darker

from reading in 'modern times' I do often wonder if what was being called nyc diesel was what I hear stories now that "anything good in ny was being called diesel" but I never heard that back then only over the past few years, everything I remember had it's own
Spot on...the sour didn't even have a gas flavor from my experience; just sour; lemon and hint of lime ime...it was like smoking a lemon and lime sour patch kid.....uplifting; would make me see colors brighter...too much could knock you out....but in moderation was extremely motivational.

The diesel was grapefruit gas; and was very hard hitting knockout weed.

Both were excellent but the sour was legendary.

Yeah maybe, the grapefruit part throws it off and it was very uplifting in effect. As I’ve said I’m of seed preference. Even running the same clone under two different environments can alter the result. Terroir, somatic mutation, medium, nutes, carbs, Etc. I feel I found what I was looking for with those 20 year references to use going forward personally and only planning on using the seeds I pictured before to find my own Sour variant, Thank you everyone.
I hope you all find the dank you are looking for.

Archive Seedbank and 707 Seedbank are both working with Original Diesel if you really want something with it in the genetics. I ran original diesel for years in the 2000s. It was my least favorite elite I had at the time. I don't know if I could chase the genes.

This is the Sour that I hold. It is more of a headband. The kush tones are very present. I wont speculate on what cut it is, other than its nice. Tests in the upper 20s and smokes good. It isn't the sour I had in the 2000s but it has enough going on to keep me happy enough.

Does the sour you hold have long running spears? How long is the flowering time?

looks very reminiscent of the best bag of weed ive ever purchased, some "headband" in about 2009. The color was perfect and she stunk through a sealed grinder to the point that my dad found and stole a good portion of the stash lol. It was around the same time that i first had Sour D and she was just as memorable. Not sure how legit either one was as far as genetics go, those are two seriously debated strains lol.

I am young by old standards but I am from Syracuse New York and we were about our sour but unfortunately I only got it twice 2009/2012

Then I had a ton of bubble made from the bud in 2014 was the last time I ever smelt that smell and what I remember was smaller buds darker in nature maybe but smelt like kerosene and had this very distinctive smell that has 0 lemon

It was so good it got my 9 year old brother to try weed and he said he’d only smoke the diesel

Fast forward to 2017 I started growing and my chase for sour and kush has drove me mad ….the Maine cut of east coast sour was like chemy at best ….roaddawg by karma holds a pheno i bet if you guys smoked it we can just rename it sour and call it a day …the most extreme lemon gas of anything iv poped and i run 75-150 beans each run 3/5 times a year so i see things …..I lost the cut after 2 runs and it took me 8 months last year to get 2 more packs I currently haven’t poped

Not even gonna lie mostly everyone’s sour bunkarooski….you get a ight smoker here and there …I’m talking all these ppl selling bud at events and stuff who grow …I bought bud off top dawg and on my life my old lady grows better then all these breeders and these pics are proof

first pic mean gene posted on his page and that’s grown by my girl …skunktek sour x lime f5 …a lot of sour phenos poped on this one and he threw 20 seeds ina pack and ya boi had 10 ladies to run through and this one was the keeper to me ….gas and almost sour grapefruit ……superrrrr fire esp with those bracts but not exactly what I’d call sour like road dawg but none the less you’ll have a panic attack smoking this 110%

this purple sour ended up being my fav out of the 2 piffcoast phenos I got …my boy poped seeds then decided he can’t run seeds so I helped him out and was happy …nice lemony chem and yielded stupid but I still love my LOUR up top better

IMG_3558.jpeg
This last one was mega fire to …frosty af …sweet lemon nose tho ..the sweetness is eh but it’s still heady …rock hard buds to
IMG_3559.jpeg

I got 4 packs of top dawg sour diesel f4 I don’t have a lot of faith in after reading grapefruit smells as descriptions …my lour is fire gas grapefruit but I don’t really wanna grow more of that ….i do have daywrecker which I haven’t flowered and plan on finding the most sour road dawg male and ima get jiggywidit for some fun stock tho

I had / have no grapefruit in my three girls. However Germination maybe fucked, out of my twelve only six came up, one had no cotyledons and died off.

Smells is chemical / burnt rubber on all of them in varying degrees and with other subtle nuances mixed in. first one got a strong burnt rubber thing going, while the second one got a slight dank sweet smell mixed in, the third one was the tallest and chunkiest, smelled more chemical / skunky , planning on getting ruf of that one. They all made my noose tingle.

But be warned, I have not grown them good / to perfection yet. It’s a cry baby for sure.
