I was brave and finally turned my hps light today to 600w however it can still go up to lumen? But what's the lumen Option For? and when should it be dimmed up to lumen?

Turn it up to 11 when you need that extra push over the cliff.
HID's aren't very efficient to begin with, dimming them only exacerbates the problem.

Leave the light at 100% of it's rated wattage. Adjusting wattage with HID can change it's spectrum and wear out the light faster. If it's a 600W bulb run it at that. The only time I would use super lumens or whatever is if the bulb is really old and you're about to change it anyways. Bulb manufacturers love it though since they sell more bulbs when people mess with wattage.

Okay now I understand you but does lumen help grow better buds? If I was to switch it up to lumen? when should I do it? I'm in week 4 of flipping and I don't mind buying another bulb because their cheap enough and if I can I'm going to try LEDs for my next grow touch wood lol
