So Autos are weird….

First go with Autos… Got some Northern Lights Autos from Seedsman Co. I’ve done a few photo period grows seed to sale but this is my first go at autos. I know the little one got left in a solo cup for a week or longer after the others were transplanted. And went on a vacation and it didn’t get watered.. I’ve heard transplant shocks them, I’ve heard they will force flower if you transplant… I late topped the bushy one and it seems to be just now starting to flower. Just gonna say photos seem to have more durability.. ‍

Cut back on the nitrogen.
Dont top autos use LST.
Topping slows them down

Autos have there place but you need to know what you are doing and most auto growers put the seed in the final container.
Ive pulled 11-13 ounces off several auto strains.
I’m definitely in the experimenting phase with these autos. I have some photo period white widows going to be close to a lb per plant. I guess I’m not understanding the benefits to autos if the time you save is tied to smaller yields ?

It’s true they get smaller yields, though your general neglect as described above is certainly contributing to some underdevelopment. I like the time window of autos, which suits my coming and going pretty well, among other things. Here’s my current auto grow at 69 days. I don’t expect to pull a pound out of this tent, but should be good for 8-10 ounces, maybe more, in 80 days of growing or so.

Pretty little girl! I definitely think autos need their own dedicated space. I tried to cram these in the same closet as my photos (6-8 weeks behind the photos. Then tried to bend the photos down for a few weeks while they “caught up”. The photos were getting too big for the room so I bought a led light and moved them to their own space now. Also was on a 18/6 schedule under a 600w mh now it’s 24 hr light under the led. Learning…. And probably fucking up along the way lol

They were bred for areas outside that do not get complete darkness.
Its all in the genetics.
If you wanna try good autos buy some from Mephisto Genetics or Atlas Seeds. They were the best ones i ran.

Autos have their place... (outside)
I don't know why people grow them inside a tent.
I have run some Auto freebees and you could get the same or better yield from photos and use a lot less electric. A few photos 12/12 from seed
6 kw a day or 9 kw for Autos @18/6 .
Same time line +- 90dayso_O
2.1lbs in 90 days from sprout in a 4x4 doable with photos?

They only use less electricity if you don’t have to heat the 12hr night cycle. In the cooler months if I grew photos the night time temps would be in the 50-60’s even with a 2kw space heater.

So it is indeed cheaper for me to run autos using one 600w light 20/4

4x4 you can get 2 pounds maybe 2.5.
Not saying that it's expected but I've seen pros harvest that much from a 4x4.
That’s decent tho. But I can imagine they’ve had time to find the right strain/same strain and up the plant count? I tend to run 6 at a time cause anything over that and it’s deemed to be dealing where I’m from

Honestly, in my limited experience, autos do much better indoors. They benefit from more light than nature gives in most places.

Autos have come a very long way. My guess is the ones telling you it's a waste never grew one. Personally I've had great experiences with auto
I suck at growing autos. Whoever said the grower doesn't make a difference with autos is crazy lol. It's all about the grower. Just to prove how bad I am at growing autos, here is a Fastbuds plant I grew. Perfect environment, soil, 1k hps, no idea wtf happened lol
