Light leak from bottom vent

I forgot to close the bottom vent for total darkness during lights off. Im i screwed? Should i turn off the lights during light on? Or should i proceed with its normal light schedule. This is my third grow everything has been perfect until nowI appreciate the advice in advance.



3rd week of flower
In 3 gallon fabric pot soil
black berry gelato
Feeding general hydroponics nutes

joking, just keep her on the same 12/12, don't confuse her by trying to compensate with extra darkness. Watch out for any nanners or pollen sacks but more than likely nothing will happen bc of a few extra hours of light

Having that power brick inside the tent is alittle unnerving. I imagine water droplets forming on the outer edges of the leafs and falling on the power brick.

I go in there all the time. It's got ambient daylight from the curtains, and I turn the lights on to get stuff. I wouldn't recommend leaving the lights on all day though.

When I started growing a couple of years ago, I heard/learned/read about the need to keep my grows dark during lights out. I checked my then new tent for pin holes and made sure that any tchotchke that gave off light was covered. And then along comes Bugbee.

Per his video "How Dark is Dark Enough? Darkness level requirements for plants with Dr. Bruce Bugbee", at 15x, Bugbee get to the heart of the matter:

15:46 On a night with full moon, even with a dark-adapted eye, you cannot read the print in a book.
15:55 So if your greenhouse is so dark you can't read a book with big print, you're still okay. It's not going to trigger the cannabis.

No you are not. The importance of light leaks has been greatly exaggerated and overemphasized with cannabis. It started with poinsettia breeders back in the day, because rather large light leaks can cause a delay in flowering. But it's really not going to fuck your shit up or cause instant hermies.

About 15 years ago I had one Northern Lights plant that I absolutely fell in love with but had no males or stored pollen during that grow to work with. I did everything I could to try to get that fucker to go hermie... turned on the lights at various and assorted times including several 24-hour days and 48 hour nights, let the grow room get hot, etc. It didn't work.

If you're using stable genetics, that have been worked correctly by someone like Neville or Shanti, light leaks and the resulting hermies are a non-issue.

Light leaks are definitely overly blamed issues that are usually genetic in the first place.

I ran my last flower room with the bottom of the door open to the veg room to allow air flow for years. There was no direct light hitting the plants but you could easily see in the room from the reflected light off the floor. I never had any issues with it.

From all the research I've done the key is the amount of light. I don't remember the specific number right now, and I'm sure it may be different for different plants, but basically, you don't want enough light to initiate photosynthesis. As long as you are below that threshold then the plant won't know a difference, just like with a full moon outside. That's why little LEDs on power strips and stuff like that aren't any sort of issue either.

In his case the drip loop is above the brick plus a horizontal cable leading towards the brick.
