One of my two seedlings has broke the surface!!!First Cannabis Seedling!!!.jpg

I know its hard to see with all my vermuculite but she is out of the soil!!!

Ok so now question, I am running a blend of Coco coir, Peat most and Vermuclite, so a pretty inert media, How long to wait till my first feeding of a very mild nute solution?

You may have to remove the seed shell.
Why did you pick that mix for your medium?
Its a riff on Dr.Bruce Bugbees lab soil blend, I simply added Coco coir and More vermeculite to the peat for better drainage(yes, I know, people think it doesnt improve drainage cause it holds water, the science says it does both and i dont argue with the PhDs lol) I do not want to touch the shell im scared ill break off the stem or something! No worries just looked again and the shell fell off on its own lol

Should have ditched the peat and vermiculite and grow monsters in high-fertigation coco.

If you don't want to argue with PhD's, then why are you "riffing" on their blends? Did you add the dolomite and gypsum or did you riff to the point where the blend is nothing like his blend? Is your blend coco & peat or peat & coco and if the former, did you use buffered coco or buffer it before using?

Good luck and have fun.

I riffed it because i dont have the controlled lab that he does, no auto water system, etc. The only thing I did differnet is add Coco and More Vermiculite. Yep tripled buffered the coco coir before mixing it in. Even Dr Bugbee in his video says you can use Coco coir so im not worried about it messing up the blend.

Nothing in his recipe requires a controlled lab nor an auto watering system. If you wanted to use his recipe and water less often, just use a larger pot.

And what about the peat?

You don't need a controlled lab to do auto watering. You need a wifi outlet (8 bucks on ali express), an aquarium pump and some tubing.
Peat based mixes dont need automatic watering because they have so high retention. Vermiculite has that problem too. Expect to have a difficult time watering your seedling correctly.

I would start feeding at 200-400 mS/cm after 3 or 4 days. Then increase after a week.

Yep buffered the peat per Dr Bugbees instruction as well. I have a moisture probe that will tell me when the soil is starting to dry out and when it needs watering so I dont forsee a problem there. Vermiculite according to science is an odd one, it both holds water and increases drainage and provides silica, which is why I went with it.

"Improving drainage: Vermiculite is added to improve the soil texture of heavy clay soil that is waterlogged because of poor drainage. Improving water retention: Adding vermiculite also improves the soil texture of sandy soil that drains too fast and does not retain enough water."

ohhhhh shit I just caught a mistake that im hoping doesnt screw me, The Dimmer button on my mars hydro TS 1000 was not pressed in and my light was running at 100% at 18 inches from my seedling. Its now at 25% where its suppose to be.

Honestly for first time woulda been easier to stick to a decent compost blend or coco imo those two be easier to manage if your new compost being the one with the most buffering capacity in short its the most forgiving to mistakes and coco being the best/easier method of hydro good luck anyway op dont kill it with too much love and curiousity and less is more with feeding remember

When I do my first feeding it will be at 1/4 the suggested amount on the bag of fertlizer. It says 4 grams in a gallon of water, im doing 1 gram. I have a compost bin going right now, just got to get the compost done lol.

Definitely never listen to the nute charts or
the recommendations of nute companies ime completely cos there after selling you more nutes of course when it comes to cannabis especially and as your doing hydro you will need to feed earlier vs soil/compost quarter strength sounds about right

It's fine.

Go by EC. General fertilizers take into consideration all crops and not cannabis in their doses. Tomatoes, for example, take double the EC on the low end than cannabis takes on the high end. The EC given earlier (0.2-0.4) is good for the first week of seedling stage.
