Howdy! I have been meaning to commit to a grow journal since my last one failed to make it beyond the introduction, and with the new year being 9 days behind us, I feel like its the perfect time to be fashionably late. I expect this year to be exciting and tragically short, with more plans and more beans than there are days in the year, but we shall abide. Here we go...
I cant think of a better place to start than with whats growing at the moment!
Here, we have the flower tent.
This is some AKBB Consumption x Choc thai. I popped these beans along with some bohdi gear in early may, after I had 100% failure germinating 24 Consumption seeds from AKBB and Professor P. I was just testing out new germ methods, and ended up with near 100% success, but I had to push back my bigger plans to give these girls a chance to shine. The Bohdi gear (DLA 9) was my best grow yet in terms of overall plant health. The buds were dense, the plants were healthy, and there was very little stress. As you can see, the Consumption x CT has not faired quite as well. I am supprised by the foxtailing, as temps have been below 85, and through using a lux meter reading multiplied by .016, I have been keeping the rough PAR under 1040. The foxtailing and leaf tacos are more pronounced in the center, so next SOG, I will raise my light as high as I can while being able to reach comparable readings. I have been struggling to keep humidity stable, as I always do in the winter, and it shows. All of these issues, and perhaps some underfeeding aside, I am really happy with my girls. The smell is hard to place. I believe shes leaning towards the Consumption (Tk/nl5 x Haze) as I am getting no coffee/chocolate approximate smells off of her. She smells like good weed as far as I can tell, and since I am growing her for potency over terps, thats more than fine with me. The fact she does so well in SOG is why I am keeping 2 clones in my veg tent in case she is something special. She is at week 9 of flower, and due to the foxtailing, I am mostly using the lower buds to gauge when to harvest. I am hoping to have her hanging by the first, but only time will tell...
On to the exciting stuff I have in store for the first portion of 2024...
Here is the veg tent.
The solo cups have some Space Monkey from Bohdi that I germinated on my computer desk as a whim and a test, completely forgetting it was winter and my house is cold as fuck. So the 2 of them had a rough month before coming into the veg tent. Theyre still slow, which is fine, because I still have no idea what I am going to do with them. The 70 gallons of soil in my spare bedroom might come into play, but more on that later... maybe...
The left column of the tray is all Mango C5 (Issac Haze x Mango Haze) from Sativa Hoarder Seed Co and on the Right is Chem Fuego ((Sour D x Headband) x Chem 91 bx3) with the aforementioned Consumption x CT in the back.
First thing you will probably notice is how unhappy they look, followed by how messy my grow space is. I hand water everything in rockwool until they can handle regular timed feedings. These gals have just hit that threshold, and this is how they are telling me, so I got the reservoir and timer set up today. After the flower tent is chopped, I will run a humidifier, and they will take off. Or at least that is the hope...
The Chem Fuego have showed sex!
Meanwhile, the Mango c5 have shown... sulfur deficiency! (also 1 male, but I didnt feel the need to show another close up of male genitals)
Ideally, I will cull the showing males this weekend, leaving 1 mango c5 male, just in case, which will free up some space for the girls to spread out. I will either take a handfull of clones from each Chem Fuego and flower the mothers, or run a mixed SOG. Choices, choices, choices...
I will share further updates on my means and methods, as ebb and flow with rockwool is tragically underdiscussed and utilized, as well as potential future plans come the weekend when I do my res change, or at any given point after that. First weekend off since mid December and I am making up for it with people time. All I can say is Ill be around and most likely sober, so please light one up for your boy.
Thanks for joining me on this journey, heres to many bountiful harvests in 2024 - TB
