Will i get a Guava Gelato Pheno that tastes like guava or was the strain named by the fruit illiterate?

Both have had an almost fake flavor to them. But nothing like the tropical notes a guava has. Everything has been almost like a fake blueberry like tasty puff. Most people who smoke it don't think it's real. Not sure if good or bad thing. What is everyone's take on guava? Idk if I should hunt more. Have 6 left.

The terpenes in a given plant resin may represent a particular flavor profile but of course those flavors are not derived from actual fruit. I have grown many strains that do not taste at all like what they are named after and many others that have what seem like “fake” artificial flavors. I had a Humboldt Blueberry Headband cross that I had to share with friends because the flavor was exactly like boo-berry cereal. People were like what did you add? Seems unreal but it is. Guava I assume is just fruity; they try to name it guava so you think it might be something special and order the seeds. I’m still kinda pissed that Barney’s vanilla kush had zero vanilla notes.. was just a plain old “vanilla” kush…what a gyp..

I would deff say blueberry and Orange terps seem the most fake. If you are still looking for a vanilla strain I would hunt some london pound cake crosses. I've had a couple that had a smell and taste almost like those blue tootsie rolls if you have ever had those.

One was london pound mintz and another was a white cheetoz (white runtz x cheetah piss) that was a real pound cake leaner.

Amazes me how this strain x that strain x this strain results in weed that tastes like fkn pound cake. Blue tootsie rolls?.. like the ones they toss to kids from fire trucks at parades? Hitting it right on the nose here…blueberry terps do have that seemingly “fake” smell/flavor. People asked me if I grew blueberries next to it or how does it get that way? Truly a wonder of nature….

a lot of flavor related strain names these days are to sound appealing and nothing more. However, theres a ton of fruity terp combos out there so i wouldnt be surprised if guava could taste like guava. not finding the traits youre looking for in 2 seeds isnt exactly a shock, I'd keep hunting.

This is one of those times where id agree with the folks saying to try out smoking/growing a verified cut before popping beans so you know what a strain can/should taste like

That's what I was thinking. I'm about to grow a papaya cross and I've never had papaya either. Judging the genetics from what I can find it's a jack herer x skunk 1.... so probably just a run of the mill orange/lemon terp with a cool name also lol
