Not sure this belongs here. Not sure where else to post it.
I'm a proud member of those ranks. In just a few more days on the 29th it will be 3 years since I've had a drink. Feeling better every day.

I doubt there's a day in there I didn't have a hit or two in my little pipe. Usually a couple hours after dinner.

:peace:

An interesting bit of legislation, even though it was proposed by one of the worst maga agents.

It will need to be sanitized a bit; note bolded.

The Countering CCP Drones Act, along with a scattering of other pet laws and culture war staples, is buried within the folds of this year's National Defense Authorization Act. The NDAA must be passed every year, though some political theater may delay its passage, and both houses of the United States Congress (the House of Representatives and the Senate) have moved the spending bill through its early phases. The House has fully passed the bill, including the Countering CCP Drones Act, and now we wait for the Senate to pass its version, so the two can be combined and signed into law by President Biden.

“but wait! There’s more!”

From the link you posted:
During a Tuesday press conference, Steve Stich, manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, said five of 28 maneuvering thrusters failed to perform as expected during the Starliner’s docking procedure and engineers had identified a total of five small helium leaks, some of which were detected before the spacecraft launched. Helium is used in the capsule’s thruster firing procedure.

Pre-launch:
Steve Stich, manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, said even if a suspect shirt-button-size rubber seal in the plumbing leading to one specific thruster failed completely in flight — resulting in a leak rate 100 times worse than what’s been observed to date — the Starliner could still fly safely.
Should we be wrong about something, we could handle up to four more leaks,” he said. “And we could handle this particular leak if that leak rate were to grow, even up to 100 times in this one (propulsion module).”

I ain't no rocket surgeon, but this reminds me of slow testing for COV so the cases will slowdown. Steve forgot to knock on wood when he said that.

Since Covid-themed threads have a poor track record of staying open, I’m putting this here. Good thing masking has become second nature to me. My fellow shoppers are 10% masked.

In the somewhat dystopian Neal Stephenson novel Termination Shock, he mentions Covid-19, Covid-23, and Covid-27. So far, he has called it.

I am extremely grateful that the current administra- tion is taking these things seriously — and is providing broad access to vaccines as they come to market. Imagine the alternative, had orange Moloch been in the catbird seat. Ain purdy Ah tell ya hwut.

Operation warp speed would tend to disagree with your "special" comments. Google it if you're not aware of it.
