AC Infinity tips

Run your scrubber and vent on port 1, light on port. 2, and a lower fan circulation fan on port 3, and a higher circulation fan near light ballast on port 4. Only problem is not enough ports unless you buy into another controller. However nice that ac infinity packs a separate controller for other additional devices.

What dehu did you get and do you like the way it's working?
Not quite sure what size dehu you're looking for but here's my experience:

It's not AC Infinity (I've got a lot of their kit) but I've a Pohl Schmitt dehu and a Vivosun dehu in my 2' x 4' tent. The Vivosun went back after a few days because it didn't drop RH. The Pohl Schmitt worked pretty well. I used it to drop RH after lights out. It ended up going into my Koolatron DIY dryer (there's a thread here on RIU on how to set that up).

My grow is in a garage in Southern California and we've had wet winters for the path three years. That dehu is a Waykar "5000 Sq. Ft Home Dehumidifier with Drain Hose for Basements, Large & Medium Sized Rooms". I bought it because of its shape - it's 9" square and about 2' tall. It's worked well since I bought it in 2021. We've had a string of wet winters here in SoCal and the Waykar has been able to keep RH in the garage in the 30's. No complaints at all.

Not much you can do about the humidity at night except maybe set the high humidity setting on your exhaust fan. Unless you have a dehumidifier.

Mine spikes when my overhead light goes off.
That's why I went looking for a tent dehu. I bought the Vivosun and it worked so well I returned it a few days later and got the Pohl Schmitt.

The latter was the recommended dehu for the Kooltron but I decided to run it in the tent. It helped keep RH in check post-lights out. It's in the Koolatron now but I'll get another one when I need it for my Fall grow.

A thought - manufacturer's are adding the ability to mimic the light intensity of sunrise and sunset. Per Bugbee, there's no reason to do that since all it does is reduce growth. I understand where Bugbee is coming from with that - reducing light, reduces photosynthesis and reduced photosynthesis results in reduced growth. Where mimicking dropping light intensity can be helpful is that doing so gradually reduces the temperature in a grow tent which will result in a more gradual increase in RH. Under certain circumstances, a rapid increase in RH can result in water forming on the leaves of a plant and that will cause "all sortsa hell" in a cannabis grow.

I don't ascribe to the idea of "sunrise"and "sunset" (I see them as marketing gimicks) but you could make the argument for "sunset" because of the benefit of reducing the likelihood of hitting the dew point. That would suck.

Just my tuppence.

Re. ports being bad - I bought my AC Infinity gear a few years back. Call it Generation 1. The leads going into the devices didn't have grommets on them and, when I cleaned my humidifier and connected it to the controller, it flaked out. The display lit up and then went stupid (I forget the details). I thought the issue was with the humidifier and was about to order a new one — the humidifier was 2 months out of warranty and I figured it was my fault, thinking that I'd gotten water in the UIS port.

I contacted their tech support and, after telling them what was happening, they sent me a new humidifier with the Generation 2 connector. The new connector seats much better and I'm guessing it's far more water resistant than the Gen 1 connectors.

After they shipped the new Gen 2 humidifier, I swapped cables and, sure enough, the dehu ran fine with the other cable so it turned out to be the Gen 1 cable that was the problem, not the humidifier.

I'm looking for one for my 4x4 tent mostly for night time. I have a 3x3 raised bed in there right now so I don't have much room (might downsize bed to gain floorspace). My tent is in the basement and has a large dehu and I keep it at 55% RH so that's my lung room I suppose. I'd like to see if a dehu inside the tent is more energy efficient than exhausting to outside. I'm looking to bring down the RH maybe five points at night. I only have one plant in there now thanks to a sausage festival so I do have some room on top of the soil this run. Will search for the koolatron thread, thanks.

I think there was a spectrum benefit marketed as well...more red if memory serves. Not believing that one either as I think DLI is the driver there.

Agree. It's more marketing speak.

During sunrise and sunset, the spectrum shifts to red. Light is going through more atmosphere so more dust so more red. Any value to that? I'd bet it falls into the "measurable but insignificant" category.

I use separate veg and flower LED's but, when it comes to growth, it's photons hitting the canopy that generates glucose. Blue photons create short compact plants, red LRD's are a cheap way to deliver photons but yield is calculated as a function of DLI not color.

If you can vent the dehu outside the tent, that's the way to go. I'm not familiar with a dehu with a hose.

Perhaps a couple of Pohl Scmitts? But that's a stretch.

Koolatron - yeh, head over there and check it out. I have zero room to build things so I had to put it together on the floor of my office. It's been running like a top for a few months now. Highly recommended.
