Trim dry vs wet and why help?

I’ve always wet trimmed. I didn’t know dry trimming was a thing. I’m thinking about getting one of those hand turn bud trimmers.
I just washed my bud and it’s drying. I cut all the fan leaves and a lot and anything with a stem really. I used to take all the wet trim aside from fan leaves and just leave it till it was dry and use it to cook with.

I started with the freebie plants a chopped that I didn’t put much love into (autos) they were in the same tote as the one I wanted that I’m leaving a little longer. So I don’t screw anything up (I never bud washed before. And I’m super nervous

Bud trimmers are awesome I wouldnt keep growing anything that does work with it. Someday to dream on sure Ill do heirloom sativas and etc that need hand trimming but im all flower and dry sift rosin. So I dont care for now.

I got a lot of work to do to get to where I want to be. I have no space for anything else for now.

What you mean washing bud, like bubble or water cure or just budwashing to clean it?

Ive cured once with my method, wet trim and denug, dry herb shelf 60/60 for 7 days and jar when most the stems snap. 60rh. It worked so well I mothered the strain and on my to do list to repeat so I can give bud for fun and love of friends family.

Id just look for strains that did that simply put.

wet trim = hay terps
dry trim = dank terps
Gotcha. So did I do right in the pictures? Right now that tent does not smell like good bud. I mean this was to be extra and I didn’t care too much. Bud is super loose not dense at all. Guess the strain and shitty growing?
How do you trim it dry with the leaves all curling up? When I did it wet it’s pretty quick. I just kinda shape the bud or nug. Save the sugar leaves and dry them and throw it in the crockpot with fluff nugs.

I’ve done wet and the same but snap method in a card board box with mesh shelves

right now I can’t move the humidity or temp of the tent. Outside is 50% 71° inside started at 62% 70-72. 1 intake open.
I have one circulating fan on them for the last 2 days thaf I just dropped down to where the intake is so it’s not right on them.
Any clue what I can do. I have a dehumidifier for the veg tent I can run in there. The 4” exhaust and filter are on low trying to not suck all the moisture out. Should I kill the exhaust fan? Raise rh prob raise temp a 1-2° too

I use a small approximatly 6’x6’ bathroom and use a inkbird probe/outlet probe inside tent. It keeps it 60rh on the dot. Exaust /filter on low, no fans in tent. 2x2 tent.

The inkbird has a huey and dehuey plugged into it. Depending on season its just huey needed or like now in summer, needs dehuey.

The humid warm months I have to have it at whatever temp too I have no control, no central air in that room.

So its close to 60F mostly but if my dehuey is needed I now use a temp probe and outlet. I use space heater to keep it above 65F or dehuey will freeze coil.

Sounds like you got a similar envoirment and setup. What you mean by washing buds? And yea I think wet trimming by hand is a little faster but nothing like a bud trimmer.

Same with the space. I went from a cubby hole to veg with a closet to flower and card board boxes to dry. to having a veg and flower closest and extra tent to dry. I’m maxed out on space with just enough bud for myself and legal. I couldn’t fit more if I wanted but it’s pretty accurate. I’ll just get by for myself with the legal amount

anyways. I read about washing your bud (everyone outdoors). I had some mold issues. Probably lost 1-2oz but it was under control. Spores in the air…. And I kept adding things which meant cutting through dry wall or drilling it and dust all on the plants. I never used a 60x loop and you can see the little hairs from my sweat shirt on the plants. I get super allergic now and man handled them a few times. So was advised to bud wash to clean. Peroxide. Lemon/baking soda. 2 fresh water dips. I still see all the trichromes. Idk if I’ll do on some of the killer colas I have that are so pretty. Other indoor dudes still do it to get dust off which makes sense. I had my filter outside the old tent for space. So used the pre filter before the fan to keep dust from it. And on the spot it sucks through the filter would be super dirty within a day. And it’s pretty clean in that room. Definitely cleaner now.
Ordering a trimmer right now lol. What wouldn’t work on it? I’ll watch some videos how to use it not to have you go into detail. Unless ya want too and I can be lazy on this part hahaha

I chopped one nug off the photo that’s not ready yet. But this had enough amber to test it in the wash. With the other 2 plants to see what would happen. Lemon cherry gelato X end game

Edit just reread and you can’t do anything about temp either. I guess just getting the humidity at 60 and temp as close as possible.
Thanks man that’s really helpful. I definitely have the space in that tent to fit a Huey or small deheuy in there. Right now would be the heuy. But how can I drop the temp? The tents in the middle of my apartment lol I can’t really make it any colder. Trying to get that 60/60

I read about outdoor grows washing their bud to get all the shit off. I had some mold. So spores could have been in the air (doubt bc nothing spread), dust from me drilling holes adding light etc and hair from my sleeves bc my skin got crazy sensitive and the allergies are so much worse now

Oh that makes sense. Yea I was told they work to trim most buds but the ball shape nugs are best, the foxtailly sativas and the like can get destroyed but its super easy.

I just trim the trash leafs and barely the sugar and de nug into the trimmer and let it do most of the work.

I havent dry trimmed with it before but its similar you just swap the blades it comes with for these wire like blades.

The trim it collects is loaded with extra trichomes good for edibles or dry sift.

I was told anything under 80F should be fine just keep a eye on it from drying faster therefor. I like my method because with it all trimmed and denugged I can just throw some in a bag to rh test it and jar or toss back on shelf.

Idk how to get temps down I keep the bathroom door closed the whole time. The small bathroom helps maintain the rh. I guess you have to choose between temps or rh control.

Its kind of hard to get 60F thats pretty cool already. I know how to get a grow room from 90F to 75-80f but thats it.

I was told from people they harvest in extreme conditions often with now ill effect. I find some strains just wont cure or I missed the tiny window it prefferred to be jarred at.
