My phone hates me (for many reasons) but shows it in it's passive aggressive response to my dictation. Dachsund's are amazing. Back when I showed dogs (Afghans and Pharaoh Hounds) and still had my Black and Tan Coonhoud, little Cujo ran the show. They were terrified they'd step on her LOL you get to close you lost a paw!

... Did anyone get lucky enough to see this recent showing of the Northern Lights? Too far South here ...
Tuesday night into Wednesday morning there was a cloud cover so if the aurora was aurora-ing, nothing was visible here. This morning at 12:45 AM, there was a nice starfield above me but I saw nothing other than a few satellites floating high overhead. And yes, at that time I was also floating high while still on the ground.

I'd get it away from the house as far as possible. The smell and critters coming to eat the body will be bad. I haul my deer carcass after butchering way up the mountain so I don't have to smell it and deal with coyotes coming to eat the remains.
This little guy stopped by the deck for the bird seed buffet this morning. He was just a bit bigger than a Labrador but thought he was much bigger. He tried to growl at my when I opened the door, so cute when they act tough.View attachment 5412917

Would Mom still be hanging around?
Looks like a juvenile that got kicked out by mom this year. They're the ones that get into trouble with trash and bird feeders mainly as their hunting and foraging skills are still developing. The big mommas are around all the time here but usually keep their distance except early spring when there's not as much natural food for them. Big males come through in late spring looking for love and are the fun ones to bump into at 3AM taking the dog out.
