Whats your opinion of coco

I plan on growing in coco next grow and I'm just wondering whats the benefits and other stuff to growing in coco ik you have to feed nutes every watering or so but what else?
And another question is my tap water is like 250mg/L can I use that or would I have to use ro water? Don't really want to use ro bc it would cost me close to prob 100 a month or so

Need to look up your local water supply water reports. I was able to find mine easy. Id show someone that knows how to read them.

People usually go by EC, whats the EC of your water?

Loads of dissolves oxygen fed to plants. Consistency in performance. More oxygen the way the coco and pearlite sit, even just coco fibers.

I dont have a meter for that rn sadly I've js been guessing which is kinda bad but idk the local water report says 95.5 ppm and gpg 5.6 it showed me the wrong one in the beginning plan on buying a tds and all that when I get payed

I'm personally not a fan of coco, I think it's more hassle than a HP buffered peat growers mix.

Soil seemed like less hassle but I couldnt keep green which is important. Couldnt get high yields either. I tried it wanting to go all soil.

Dtw coco be careful with floods. Its not that tedious now that Im all up and running and reunited with my method.

Any method is a rabit hole to commit to. Just try out a few see what accepts you into its realm. Sometimes the ganja gods are in control.

I may sound silly but just got done learning of a real scary infection. Can cause a grow nuking which isnt fun.

Growing has risks and may not be for all. Id just take it little by little size things up accordingly.

Promix hp sounds nice but if you cant tell if plant is under waters or overwatered in soil and plant health suffers therefor. Any method requiring dryback Im not fond of.

Even though it seemed to me my plants stayed alive staying on the moist side in soil.

Dtw coco theres no question about it just feed the mofo!

Coco is simple if you have a 1/2 hour per day for feeding.
70/30 coco/perlite mix.
Start in solo cups........transplant after 2 weeks.......I use 2 gallon pots.
Start feeding to run off daily starting around day 3-4 from sprout.
Feed once daily to run off in veg and twice daily in flower.
Never give plain water.
Never let the coco dry.
Your tap water is fine.
I wouldn't grow any other way.......but's that just me.

Takes me about 1/2 hour a day........if you can't spare 30 mins, coco's not for you.

With a auto system I spend like 30 min every 3 days refilling reservoir 60 gal for 5 plants fed 8x a day in flower. Just sit back it runs itself.

My veg plants get twice a day and have their own reservoir thats lasting a week easy.

If the runoff reservoir is the same size as feed reservoir youll spend even less time emptying that.

I feed twice a day in veg for fresh dissolved oxygen and keep things clean with pool shock but its a bit overkill.

I had to do auto feed because in flower the pot dries bone dry over night so you may not get away with hand water.

Dryback kills my plants and many others. Even if I could hand water its like trimming by hand vs bud trimmer. Just much faster and convenient.

Im a lazy guy and need things setup that I can still handle on a bad day.

What is dryback is that where u let it go without water for 1-2 days when it's bone dry?

Dry back is just a pot of medium losing its water volume that it had right after watering. It can dryback without being dry to the touch.

Dryback can be referred to in soil or coco, anything that can dry out in similar grow methods.

You might benefit reading as much as you can from that coco for cannabis link that was shared.

In coco youll for sure want to water at least twice a day in flower. What MickFoster said is good unless it gets dry to the touch between waterings.

I personally would highly suggest auto feed it will help if you have a busy schedule. I about lost my mind hand watering and wish I just figured this out sooner.

You will need time to dedicate to growing and learning though, people have failed simply not doing so.

This is one intensive hobby that I only took as far as I did because Im a true stoner which is most the motivation.

It depends on the size of your pots. Coco drains very well so it's almost impossible to over water/feed. Hempy buckets have a drain hole about two inches from the bottom so the pot basically has a mini reservoir in the bottom. I'm automated and can go for days without doing a thing.

I've always hand watered myself. Grew with coco for a while. I find potting mix with a lot of perlite to be easier.
Less watering, less nutrients used, less waste, less work, less hassle.
Imho, if you're growing coco and aren't automated, it gets really old really quick.

So is hand watering the same just in smaller parts in flower? From my understanding people say 1 time in veg each day and 2 times in flower so would that be like 50/50?
