Good morning, everybody. I plan on visiting DC for 3-4 days in mid to late September and I've never been there. Anybody got tips on sites to see for a short visit? I do like museums but I have to see the White House, National Mall, and the Lincoln Memorial. Congress will probably be in session so I don't know if it's a good idea for me to visit the Capitol Building. I don't know if I could restrain myself from flipping the bird to a few Congressman.
The National Mall has the Vietnam and Korean War memorials, reflecting pool, Lincoln Monument, Air and Space museum, the Natural History museum, National Art Gallery and the Washington Monument. The White House is there as well as Congress so a couple days could be spent just there doing tours. Do a little research on the DC Subway system as trying to park down there is a nightmare.
If you're a horror movie fan the steps from the Exorcist movie are in Georgetown which has a ton of bars and restaurants along with some overpriced shops. Greene Sundaes on the Where's Weed app is a good weed delivery service that delivers to your hotel and there's a bunch of others to look at for shrooms and weed as shrooms are legal there now. Hope you have a great trip.

I usually get high at the Botanic Garden by Congress, and the Hirshorn Scuplture Garden by the castle. Both those are along the Mall, plus shady on the long walk. The dining cafeteria at American Indian Museum has great food, pricing is reasonable too.
Does that help?

After you get high in the sculpture garden, toddle over to the Freer Gallery of art, and take a rest in the Peacock room. I used to dust the shelves weekly in a previous life.

The National Gallery has too many masterpieces for a quick visit but you should anyway. I'm biased towards art.

My grade school had us do a class trip and 5 page typed report on the Peacock Room. It was amazing. The National Arboretum used to have a really cool bonsai section but it's been 30 years since I've visited there.

I know that bonsai collection. A little off the beaten path. You were probably past grade school when I worked there. It would be hilarious if our paths had crossed like that. I dealt extensively with special visitors in my time there.

It would have been 8th grade around 1981 if memory serves correctly. I worked at the US Senate for a couple years and would eat lunch at the Arboretum in the summer when the Senate was on break.
