I know it's a bit late, but cover ur thermometer so the infra red from the light can't warm it up, infra red increases radiant heat, you wanna know the ambient temperature. As a noob I was worried when my temp was high but in actual fact it was the infra red warming up the thermometer.

a paper cup with a hole poked through the base makes a great shade for a thermometer probe, I use a toilet roll tube haha, I'm sure I seen one hanging in @Star Dog garden once upon a time too

It's a small detail but it plays a important part for the reasons @Blue brother points out.

I still use a piece of cardboard tube with a small hole for the cable and a slot in it.

How ya doing mate? Hope ur well. They are doing sweet pal. The blue cheese is getting frosty! Stinks! The wedding cake is like sticky sweets on my fingers, the watermelon hasn't come into herself yet, I'm thinking the cure for her, and the trainwreck I know is just guna be an old school throwback for me! They're behaving well now iv chucked the hermie! And I'm dialed in with the feeding, nutrients and temps, what not. Its becoming natural now! Stay safe big man
