Hi there,

I'm started to cook 5 plants in 2x2. I'm open to any idea bout how to keep it together.

Light Fce 3000 Mars.

Strains - White Widow(Ghs) - Super Lemon Haze(Ghs) -. Malawi (Ace seeds) - Golden Tiger(Ace Seeds) - Colombian Gold (World of seeds)

Thanks people

I'm just here for the ideas. I have a 2x2.5 tent and one plant goes wall to wall. Even my short little indicas crowd that tent. 5 plants seem wild especially with 2 ace sativa seeds.

My only idea would be flowering them as soon as they're mature enough to flower. But I personally think the Malawi and golden tiger will take over that tent. Maybe solo cup grows? Or at most 1 gallon?

So to be clear, fce 3000 is a 300w light?

2x2 , you mean 2ft x 2ft?
Or are we talking meters?

I'll do topping and Sog together and flower them little bit earlier.

I've ran 4 in a 3x3 with like 50 days veg 5 gal buckets (very crowded)
I am currently running my 2 single plant in the 3x3 in a 10 gal buds are wall to wall but tons of air flow under which I'm a big fan of
You could do 5 in a 2x2 but keep your pots small and don't veg very long

With all due respect, you're growing four plants too many in a 2x2. A single healthy plant will completely fill a 2x2. The only advantage of more plants is a potential shorter veg time. Canopy area determines yields, not plant count.

I understand the urge to up the plant count, and have done so myself, but the downsides of growing five different cultivars in a 2x2 far outweigh any perceived benefit.

I'll train them like a Japanese Gardner then. I don't have a place for another tent now man and got only Super Lemon Haze Ghs as a stash. I love it tough got bit over 100 gr 2 years cured under perfect conditions.

I'm a little bit strain hungry atm. But you're right in sooth.

It's not just an issue of training - you need to cut your veg time very short. I'd look at topping at 21 days and flipping right after that. No way I would not top - per below, you're going to have some challenges lighting the grow but topping will make things a little easier to manage.

Another issue - if you don't give them a lot of light, they'll stretch and you'll end up with tall, scraggly plants. Plants that get a lot of light don't stretch because they don't have to and they can put their energy into branching.

On the topic of light, this is the PPFD map of your light and it's got a serious hot spot. The higher you hang a light, the more even the PPFD map. With that light, even at 16" you've got 50% more light in the center than you do on the edges so you're going to have to move your plants around to get even lighting on them. HPS growers had to do that back in the day so it's not a new issue.

Allright. I'll keep all in mind. I'll flip very early to 12/12. I think this light is fair enough for this tent. Some people told me the power of it can harm the plants. But got you! It will be winter time anyway which will help me to balance the temperature.

One of our Rollitup members cleverly managed a sativa grow by flowering only the clones. If I recall correctly, he never flowered the plant he grew out from seed.

In theory, you could take clones from your plants at around week 3 or 4 of veg. The time it takes a clone to root, plus transplant shock, will delay growth but the clone will be mature enough to flower immediately.

Im sure someone can chime in and expand on this.

Re. the light - I feed my plants well (light is how plants make food, right?)

"Some people told me the power of it can harm the plants." - sure. If you try, you can harm your plants. I grow my plants at well over 1kµmol and have given my plants too much light almost once per grow. It pisses them off and they let me know so I turn the light down. Even though I grow at very high light levels, I have never had a plant get damaged but I have seen consistently high yields.

--->>. Growers lose more of their crop by not giving their plants light than they do by giving their plants too much light. <<--

That sounds like a bold assertion but, even though it can't be proven, I'd argue it's accurate for a variety of reasons, two simple ones. First, it's very hard to damage a plant by giving it too much light (from an LED). Using HPS, a grower had to be careful about the heat output of the light. With an LED, they simply don't give off much heat. If you give a plant too much light it will react by temporarily changing its shape so as to reduce the leaf area exposed to the light ("canoeing" or rotating the leaf vertically around the petiole). If a grower leaves (pardon the pun) the light at high levels and the plant reacts and the grower reduce the light level, that's negligent and, from what I've seen, very rare.

On the hand, increasing yield is really simple - give your plants more light. I've been reading a lot about grow lighting since I started growing (again) in 2021 and I've found no research that doesn't conclude that there's an almost linear relationship between light levels and yield. The only metric I've seen is from the attached study and I've created this table based on the information in the paper.

Roughly speaking, their research showed a 4.5% increase in yield for every 50µmol increase in PPFD.

No argument that there's no need to turn give a grow "a lot" of light. Cannabis won't die until light levels drop to 64µmol± but arguing how little light a grower can feed the plants is a pointless distraction from the benefits of giving cannabis a lot of light. Cannabis is a light whore loves light.

The best 60 minutes of information I've found re. growing cannabis.

Sounds like a solid idea I do that for my 1x2x2 tent to test new strains so I dont have a bunch of stuff I dont like. Just makes sense in my setup. 1L bonsai moms 4 of them in a square foot box.

I just grow it out till I sex it and then take a cut and flower it after a week rooting and boom. It just makes sense. I guess I never flower from seed anymore.

I have a very active perpetual garden though all spaces full.
