Are auto strains easier to grow

I grew my autos the same as I did photoperiod except that I could give them a lot more light in flower. Autos will handle DLI of 70 or 80.

I stopped growing autos because you can't flip them as you can with photos so it's much harder to control their growth.

Two autos, one hiding in the corner.

Very nice photo. Lower yield but much easier to work with.

Most cannabis is hybrid, a mixture of indica and sativa. Autos have the autoflower gene from cannabis ruderalis so it's just another cannabis hybrid. Water it, give it lots of food (light), got easy on the fertilizer, and you'll end up with a shitton of weed.

I grow a lot of autos for their quick seed to harvest times...I have had some as quick as 60 days from cotyledons to harvest....but that's rare and takes perfect conditions and just the right pheno to get it. That said they are much less forgiving than photos....I suggest planting multiple autos if you go that route cause your probably going to kill/stunt a few.
Best of luck with whichever way you go......here's that plant I got harvested at 60 days Sweetseeds Tropicanna Poison auto20241010_064459.jpg

Good advice to plant several and assume one or two could go south. They can be fickle, certainly.

That is impressive ripeness for 60 days. Big plant? 75 days is about the earliest I’ve harvested. 90 and change is probably the average, and some I surely could have let go longer.

Here’s one that’s getting close for me. Day 84, Gorilla Cookies. Lots of lst. One of the larger (largest?) autos I’ve grownIMG_3609.jpeg.

Are auto strains easier to grow & manage & stable & more successful in general
Honestly in my opinion there not really hard if you do research. I just finished my first ever grow I did 3 autos and the only thing was nute burn.
You just needa read if you do only thing I looked up if how much to feed, what light schedule, what's a good soil and that's pretty much it

They are easy as pie, the more hours of light the more growth.
Smaller plants so much less trimming. You will never have a 14 foot tall auto.
There are three in my tent now all I really have done is fill the watering supply bucket. Less than a month and they are starting to flower.
Where my 14 footer was started early March and is just starting to come to harvest.

Very nice buddy! How is the aroma? Only
Grown it once but doing another. First one had an incense/lemon/floral like smell. The high stood out to me as well. Nice giggly rush followed by care free relaxed mindset

Thats a nice plant, here is my biggest auto to date, currently at 15 weeks pinneapple express, minimal training and it started out as a runt took 6 weeks to produce pistils i was considering pulling it at week 3.

I didn't hit 14'......but smashed the hell out of 7' in a 4x4....it yielded a little over 1 1/2lbs RQS Mimosa auto. They can get huge especially in hydro.20240621_104439.jpg

Autos are great just don't stress them, easier said than done! Photoperiod are great also i have a place for both in my garden. I like autos for all the mentioned reasons. Best thing no light leak issues! If you want a good yeild grow as many as your tent/room allows, canopy management is crucial thats where photoperiods have the upperhand. As far as potency goes ive found autos are up there with their cousins strain dependant of course and letting them mature properly. Gotta love opening that tent and seeing all the different colours and aromas.
What size tent do you use? I'm worried about how many I can do in a 1.2 1.2 2.0 tent ? I was hoping to do 4 but could be too much lol

I fill two 3x3 tents with autos i usualy put 4 in each using 3 gal or 5 gal ive done 6 in 2gal before here is 4 pinneappple express in 5gallon at week 6. You could definately do 4 in that space. Maybe 6? helps if they are the same strain

I like autos for the variety and time window. Will just add that I don’t think 8 to 10 weeks is realistic most of the time. They almost always go 90 days or more. I’ve never had an auto truly ready to harvest in 70 days. Grown around thirty of them now.
So my Wedding Cake auto went exactly 74 days (so 10.5 wks) My Mac 1 auto went 80 days so a full 10 weeks and I have 2 still going, one approaching 88 days (12 weeks) and one approaching 90 days so going to go to 13 weeks with her. Running a 20/4 light schedule. I guess it depends on the circumstances, genetics, feed, training etc. that may impact the time, but I would agree they will all usually go over what they state unless it is a perfect grow.
