Sherbinski's Community Journal

Now on day 62. I could chop today but I have other plans. This will be the last Polar Gelato for a while. Going to keep a mother going while I focus on Acai Jelly. I had 2 freebies when I bought my original PG seeds. I flowered one without cloning like a dummy. That is the true fire. Not as terpy as the Polar and grows a bit smaller but it has that sweet funk and kicks you between the eyes. Fortunately, my second seed germed well and is now ready to be cloned. Definitely going to do a few consecutive runs with it. Top candidate for reversal once I get a clone inventory going.20240918_071408.jpg20240918_071349.jpg20240918_071339.jpg20240918_073605.jpg

Hey, hey, hey. It's been a while for this journal but I'm not done yet. I Just put 4 Pink Sunset clones into flower. Another Sherbinski strain, these already look like they want to be big and maybe floppy. I'll have to watch, train and maybe install a trellis as the stretch unfolds. I transplanted yesterday from 1 quart pots to new 3 gallon Floraflex pots. They fit the drainage stands much better than the 2 gallon pots. The drainage holes are larger in the bottom so I cut fiberglass window screen to fit and avoid medium washing into the drainage pipe which would cause flooding.
Brand new Sunshine mix #4 premoistened with full strength bloom nutes from the res, exactly what I've been feeding them since they popped roots.20241107_064426.jpg

I had to cut them back repeatedly while waiting for a space to open up. Vegged them 8 to a tray bottom feeding with bloom nutes.

4 Pink Sunset on the left, 4 Acai Jelly on the right, they'll be flowered in a few weeks.

Haven't updated in a while I regret switching from Promix hp to sunshine #4. I thought they would be interchangeable but ss4 retains far more water than Promix hp. Just not suitable for drain to waste without adding a substantial amount of perlite. Not worth the savings. I've cut back to one irrigation a day. I think it affected my last tent as well. I think these will be fine. Just a little droopy. Day 30 from flip. They were tiny and now as full a tent as I could want.20241203_075637.jpg20241204_074418.jpg20241204_074409.jpg20241204_074445.jpg

They're showing colour so early.

With watering every 4th day, as is done here on The Shores, Sunshine Mix #4 & Pro Mix HP are totally interchangeable in a 5 gallon bucket. Sunshine Mix #4 does contain a silica additive whereas Pro Mix HP does not - could the silica additive in SM be an issue with daily watering?

Interesting. I'm going to permit a little dry back then resume fertigation only smaller dose per event. With Promix HP my pots got light between twice daily waterings and that hasn't happened in Sunshine. Maybe the peat is finer, the perlite is a finer grain and a smaller proportion than that I see in Promix judging by what accumulates on top. It simply doesn't perform the same for my needs.

They get twice daily waterings with Pro Mix HP? I could see daily waterings with their coco based CX products - but not the HP stuff.

The HP laden buckets are still pretty heavy 48 hours after receiving 4 litres of feed water. After 4 days, they have dried enough to get the next watering.
