Free fungus gnats come from improperly stored natural products that will draw bugs if not handled correctly. I always pick up soil as it is the only way to check for wet ripped open taped up bags that lead to the problem. I have never had any problems with mold fungus or bugs handling natural soil in my garden for 30 years.

Honestly I have seen a lot of comments on overloaded nutes or ph issues from HF that look like plain old over watering to me.

You are correct, Jimski. I had placed a half-full bag of HF on a shelf in the barn. Three months later it was loaded with slugs. Vermin are good at finding food. Sealed soil bags and cloth grow pots reduce pest and over watering issues. Yellow sticky sheets catch the gnats in the tent. Here's my Nirvana Master Kush grow after week two of flower. I'm following the FoxFarms nute schedule on this one. Yeah, I need to trim the lower foliage but the plant is so happy.

I am trying white widow organic. HF OF with perlite. 3.5 weeks in I top dress with conditioner EWC and perlite. Once more before Veg then organic flower kit from FOOP.
You can not save soil in a barn. I found the best thing to do with old or excess soil was to pile it up and grow something that bugs hate like nettle. Burn and compost the nettles into the soil and that is next years fill in soil lost to drainage.
