Did you guys hear about the 81 year old Texas Congressperson who hadn't voted since July? The Dallas paper found her in a nursing home for folks with memory problems. Seems like the party might have let the people in her district know, She is retiring, so that is something. Not counting her, there are still 22 over the age of 80 in congress.

from the politico story:

The news of her situation prompted some quips about the general age of American leadership. “I’m more concerned about the congressmen who have dementia and are still voting,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) wrote on X.

Rep. Massie has a point.

"Because of the death of President Jimmy Carter, the Flag may, for the first time ever during an Inauguration of a future President, be at half mast," Trump wrote Friday on Truth Social. "Nobody wants to see this, and no American can be happy about it. Let's see how it plays out. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Just another boondoggle that native species will suffer terribly for.

America is a Fascist Police State. There can be no other rational conclusion when looking at public "works" like these while LA is burning and millions are homeless.
agreed 110%
look how our prision are private and our population is highest of the world. look the price of a slave ina cage these companies are making per day off majority non violent people there. I feel so anti American these days cause the obvious wrong and allowance to do these obvious wrongs is so bad. There’s def a reason why in school to u ask an average American what was past of America , we literally killed millions before this country was mad of native Americans and made slaves of anyone we could . their info and pat is def deterred to make us “okay” and also def fake in we def aren’t the good guy and def “okay” to make anyone and people slaves in many ways. We destroyed the mental services after jfk and put way to many mental and dru abusers into jail and that’s so wrong when they really need support and help.

i wish we had a better future or people would learn from past cause in this age we can, but as sheep they (usa people) are so easily focused on themselves and stupid crap vs what’s going on

not sure it’s still most owned by bush family but it was in late 90’s-early 2000’s. Sigh

Big Cuts To Medicaid Reportedly On The Menu For House Republicans
A list of options a conservative leader has circulated includes key elements of the failed attempt to repeal Obamacare, according to Politico.
Cuts to Medicaid that could cause millions of Americans to lose health insurance are on a list of budget options now circulating among House Republicans, according to a new report from Politico.
The list came from the office of House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-Texas), per Politico, whose sources stressed that the idea was just one item on a “menu” of possibilities for spending cuts. The ambitious list also proposes sweeping reductions in food assistance and a rollback of subsidies for clean energy that were a signature achievement of President Joe Biden.

LA is burning because humans decided to build houses in an area prine to brush fires, same dumb stuff as building houses in the coast to get hammered by hurricanes. I wouldn't give one cent to those folks. They live a nice life in a beautiful place, living high on the hog, wasting all kinds of money on expensive things, then when they burn or get flooded, expect the rest of us to feel good about our tax dollars going to bail them out. Move somewhere else or expect these situations and pay for it yourself. Certainly no federal money should go to them, maybe state because thats their business. More handouts for lack of personal responsibility.

Abortion bans seem to be driving young people to move out of state
New research suggests that states could see huge economic implications.
Tens of thousands of young people — single people, in particular — have left states with near-total abortion bans.
A new paper by the National Bureau of Economic Research, a nonprofit economic research organization, estimated population changes by analyzing address-change data collected by the United States Postal Service. It found that since the 2022 fall of Roe v. Wade, the states with near-total abortion bans — 13 at the time of the analysis — appear to have lost 36,000 people per quarter. Single-person households, which typically skew younger, were more likely to move out of states with bans.

“Our results show that reproductive rights policies can significantly affect where people choose to live,” the researchers wrote.

Well it makes sense. Abortion care is healthcare. Why live somewhere that the government doesn't prioritize the health of its constituents.
