Is whole plant drying superior to wet trimming?

Will hang drying the whole plant be that much better a slow dry and cure? Also, when hanging whole plant are fan leaves left on as well? I ask, as removing fans and not sugar leaves, would give me more room for air flow. However, that may speed the dry, and affect terpenes and flavor? In the past I have had great results wet trimming at chop, and laying manicured flowers in a hanging basket with shelves. Turning flowers every. 3-4 days for 10 days, then jarring and burping daily. My wet cures have been pleasantly fragrant and smooth smoke after a month. Just trying to take it to the next level.

Yes, never though about that, but leaves actually are a benefit shielding from airborne stuff. The same as they shield from light growing and provide photosynthesis.

Hang drying the whole plant upside down in a grow tent with 60% humidity @ 16c is the best way to dry your weed. It takes around 2 or 3 weeks to fully dry but it's well worth it.

yeah they do a great job keepin the buds clean, especially the bigger ones..U can also hang dry the whole plant as is, cut from the base and hang…but sometimes the branches are too close to each other depending on training.. I usually hang each branch individually

Thank you for that confirmation it is WELL worth it. Yes seems like my normal 10 days to jar would be bumped up to 14 days at least.

Idk if there is any benefit to whole plant hanging. I have two hanging this way now bc I'm lazy af and hate trimming. Keeping the main stalk attached alone probably adds 3 days worth of water to the process. If your in a dark grow tent with filters airborne particulates should be minimal to begin with. Wrapping the flower in the leaf restricts passive air flow creating a more favorable condition for mold to form.
My normal process goes, cut and hang whole plant in tent it was grown in, adjust environment accordingly. In the next couple of days I'll go spend some time removing most fan leafs. A few days later I'll take the flowers off the stalk and move them to a net. When ever I got time with the kids out of my house is when I do my main trim and it's a rushed hair cut not a careful manicure. When dry is finished any remaining sugar leaf gets jarred and cured with the bud and I simply brush it off with my thumb before the bud gose in the grinder.
Advantages of wet trim, less tricome loss, easier to get a clean manicured flower with leafs removed by the stem not simply trimmed back without braking apart the bud.
Disadvantages way sticker, dulling way more trimmer blades. Way stinker.

Advantages to dry trim. Leafs are easier to remove and cut. You can smoke it as you go. More tricome loss=more dry sift in your trim tray.
Disadvantages you might brake a few of your pretty flowers, you won't be able to remove the interflower leafs by the stem.

Very good points for both trim methods. I will say this, for years I turned my nose up at trimming machines. Last grow I bought a 19” AC Infinity bowl trimmer. I was able to wet trim a 5 gallon monster girl in about 15 minutes, after plucking fans and stems from flowers. I could do all four 5 gallon girls in about an hour and a half, opposed to an all day and night hand trim off and on. Also the nugs were beautiful and consistently trimmed. So well in fact, that only a true aficionado would say the buds are machine shaped opposed to my meticulous handtrimming with snips, gloves, and alcohol! For $120, it paid for itself in effort with one harvest. I will NEVER hand trim again. Also came with 2 swappable blades, one for wet and one for dry trim.
