My doctor had the same story for me too. Jelly is blasted all over, surgery for L4&5 rupture. I went a different route. Yoga first, the exercise and diet and and 10 years later I’m in better shape than ever. No back pain.
It taught me that professionals and doctors are only experts in their tiny scope of vision.
No surgeon is ever going to tell you that yes! Even the spine and hard bones and the jelly is all self repairing if we learn how to make space in the vertebrae and eat a low inflammation diet.
Bones are made of the same stuff and ligaments and muscles, which means they are just like slow hardening clay. But still malleable and can heal without surgery. I’m living proof.
I would have to agree with this-
I had 3 levels of lumbar fused in 2 surgeries.
I had a blown disc- disintegrated- not there- causing 100% compression when I first went in. I could barely walk hunched over.
They advised at the time that it would affect the levels above and below in the future due to the additional load.
Summer of 22 i was in severe pain again.
I went back to the doctor that did the other surgeries.
When I went he was out for an injury and I saw another dr in the practice- he said that the surgery would likely not help my pain.
My neurosurgeon said the same but the orthopedic surgeon said I needed the surgery.
I had it scheduled but life circumstances changed and I had to cancel- 2 1/2 years later I am still in pain but getting worse. I went for a second opinion and this highly regarded doctor does not recommend surgery.
I have arthritis in my facet joints- which makes sense because I was recently suffering from a arthritis flare in my knees and hands.
He is recommending a nerve ablation gor the facet joints- it’s not a permanent fix but I may get 6 months to a year or more of relief.
Honestly keeping moving and stretching is the best medicine but we are getting older and this osteoarthritis with the bone spurring is brutal.
